| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Zero Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| It's definitely saying "Crime, crime, crime of love". | |

| It's such a strong, angry song that at first I heard 'When you wanted more, whore, than I was worth'. Lol, weird. | |

| I always thought it was 'Hopes are for kids'. | |

I think this song is about someone murdering the person they are in love with (possibly because they don't reciprocate) in a moment of passion and being consumed with guilt about it afterwards. The guilt is so great that they can only throw yourself on God's mercy, praying that they can be absolved eventually. It's almost as though the killer has gotten away with it, but this is pointless because they are punishing themselves for the crime more than the law ever could: there's nowhere left to hide in no one to confide the truth runs deep inside and will never die The truth will never die... unlike their love. |

To me this is about a relationship that has ended due to incompatibility, but one where the pair still care about one another. They can, however, acknowledge that their time spent together wasn't the best, judging by the SUPER harsh opening lines: I can't remember when it was good Moments of happiness elude I don't know what I'd do if an ex ever said that to me. |

| I also think this is about a pair of lovers with a considerable age gap. The older man is trying to be responsible by ending things... he doesn't want to age or taint her, and can see that the relationship is doomed and to continue it would only end in her being hurt. | |

When I first heard this song my first thought was that it was a breakup, or at least a 'let's-take-a-break' song. It doesn't sound like a successfully functioning relationship... almost as if the singer hates his girlfriend. I think it's saying 'Leave me alone for awhile, we can try again when we've both had a chance to mature'. He wants space, judging from the song title itself, and the lyrics 'Are you dying to believe I can't go on without you?' (mocking her and her belief that he is so consumed with her), 'All we are is too fast for love', and 'We're too young I hate to love you'. That's just my interpretation, anyway. |
