i think, whether the author of these lyrics intended it or not, this song may resemble a dialogue between a human and God. "Remember the day I set you free I told you You could always count on me darlin'" "From that day on I made a vow I'll be there when you want me Someway somehow" sure, God might not call us "darlin'" but its a beautiful line none the less. We were set free by Jesus' sacrifice, and once we accept this sacrifice, we are set free. and from that day on, we make a vow to live for him. human love if fallible, things will separate human love, but nothing can keep us from the love of God. God: If you need me call me No matter where you are No matter how far Dont worry baby Just all my name I'll be there in a hurry You dont have to worry 'Cause baby Ain't no mountain high enough Ain't no valley low enough Ain't no river wide enough To keep me from gettin to you baby |

this song is written from the perspective of one christian friend to another. The person isn't stepping up in life and putting themselves out in the open for God to use. They try not to offend people, like to play everything safe, and keep things inside, without fulfilling their true purpose on earth, which is for us to further Gods will. Their friend sees them choosing to keep God bottled up inside them, and they do what a true friend does, stab them in the face. They tell them straight up what they think. This is true friendship such a great song, a message i know i need to take to heart. |
