Tell him what we said about "Paint It Black" Rock and roll is here to stay Come inside now, it's ok The song is basically about asking a girl to be with him and love him, even though her dad doesn't like him. | I may be way off, but I've always thought this song was about politics. He's talking about how there's "Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right" and how he's stuck in the middle. He doesn't completely agree with either side. He's a centrist. | |

I think the first verse of this song is about someone coming off drugs and how everyone is telling him that "he's fine again" and he's doing good, but to him, he's in hell and he's feeling horrible. Than the chorus or hook is saying that he's aware of how these feeling will go away and he knows that it's just because he's coming down off of the drugs and how he's prepared to face it this time, but than at the last line of the hook he screws up and is back on the drugs he tryed to get off "One day too late" The next verse after that is all about how, he's back on drugs and how he's given up the fight to get off of them. "I feel the dream in me expire." People call him a liar since he said he was going to get off of the drugs and his response to that is "Why try to stay sober when I'm dyin', here?" This whole song is about the battles of drug addiction and how coming off of drugs isn't an easy thing to do. The singer wants to get off the drugs, he really does, but he finds comfort in them and he just can't seem to kick the habit. |
