Hey it's me Billy Frankenstein, this song seems to be about someone who is on the fence about wheather or not he wants a relationship, in addition to that this person uis not really sure how to go about cultivating a relationship from the women he sleeps with. He has to remind himself or almost force himself to stay around and base his thoughts on them in the best light possibele. they seem not to live up to his expecctations of them or his ideals so much that he is almost in disgust over them. he is self obsesses, "keeps hiimself too clean" and dealing with mental issues from previous substance abuse, now he is on legal drugs and faces the same dilemma, they help briefly but his anger/issues surface in the morning. these issues are also preventing him from a relationship. i'm not so sure this person wants a relationship but he is definately obsessing about his need for one or the fact that he is not in one. he is a loner, not confident that fulfillment will come from a relationship but not fulfilled in his situation/ he wants to make himself not be criticakl oof other people almost to the point where he entirely shuts his judgment off. I believe this is autobiographical of duritz and that possibly he is on lithium from his shrink, but it is only based on my interpretation of this song. |
