I remember years ago when this song was still new, Rob Dickinson was being interviewed and said that amazingly some people thought the lyrics were racist! He explained that it's nothing to do with race but is about a person who's cold and hard to relate to. "I've never seen you when you're smiling It really gets under my skin" is the most obvious part of the lyrics. |

Have listened to this song hundreds of times over the years, it's one of my favourites for sure. But i always thought it was "your IRON skin looks mexican". Looking up the lyrics on various sites, many of them say the same thing, "IRISH skin", with a notation added saying it should be "ISLAND skin". (obviously this bugged someone so much, they had to post the correction (?) to multiple websites!) I'm still unsure, but I still like my possibly misheard version best. Great comments and analyses on this site! You all have fantastic brains! |
