| Underoath – Too Bright to See, Too Loud to Hear Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| He means that the sizeable portion of Underoath fans that are non-religious may not relate to the lyrics as much as their previous albums that were more broadly interpretable. | |

| Weird that nobody's commented on this one yet. Seems like some kinda sick story about a mentally retarded person being sexually abused, lol... | |

| It's only natural to make comparisons, as there are obvious similarities. Don't question my fandom. | |

First of all, I disagree with unkn0w. I doubt all-together any presumptions of animosity between Daron and Serj. Second, yeah, this is a fucking awesome song. My pants are officially creamed in anticipation for the album. As for the meaning: Although not all SOAD songs are political according to the band, a political interpretation is the easiest to take. Plus, Scars could turn out to be a straight-up political band, unlike SOAD which supposedly wrote most songs about "personal experiences". So, yeah, society and politics. As many of you have already pointed out, he's mentions how he walks his own line, rejecting trend, etc. But I think his main point with this song might be about the media ("they") and how is just perpetuates a constant state of fear. They show the tragedy. They say it's all about to end. "There's a prison that's gone" could possibly refer to Guantanamo Bay (even though it's not "gone"... yet). Either way, the fear lives on; the fear of terrorism. The media keeps the fear of terrorism alive. The president wants us to be afraid. Why? Because it helps his approval rating. Bush's approval rating is asymptotically approaching zero, but whenever he wants a bit of a boost he calls in for a little help from the Department of Homeland Security's terror alert system and gets the media to portray him "kissing his family" and whatnot for sympathy points. There's probably more to say, but I think that's a long enough rant already. Thanks for reading. |
