The idea of Britney Spears is interesting. Reading Chuck Klosterman's work, one can agree she IS a victim. The people who were suppose to love her the most were concerned more of her image and the way she presented herself, neglecting an otherwise stable well being. However, I still stand by what I said. Afterall, celebrities aren't celebrities if there aren't people watching, adoring, living through them. One thing you and I can agree on is this: it's a great song. |

I really enjoy this song a lot because it is very relevant. He speaks of things we see in the media and how he tries to not get caught up in the scheme of the mainstream culture. "My heart, creep show, some old thing on the radio. Who’s that coming round suffering popularity breakdown?" He also pokes on the idea of the britney spears, the paris hiltons, tara reids who thrive on being on the front cover of US weekly and such other trashy magazines and forms of media. "Walkin down paths, with the kids in the back way I say “If you can't dance to this it doesn't matter” He tries to get the message that the lifestyle is irrelevant. "Looking for people and a new fan But she told me before, baby, do your own dance Stay off the highway" He is reminded, (maybe a mother figure or girlfriend?) that the life he lives is more important than the "highway" i'm assuming involves the fast life of fame, fortune, fake. All in all, great.. fucking.. song. |
