http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETELORdwmJA Watch this and tell me Robert Johnson isn't a musical prodigy. Because if you do, you obviously know more about guitar than Eric Clapton. X_X |

| Josh Ritter – To the Dogs or Whoever Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I love songs like this because one can freely interpret it how he or she wants. Obviously Josh knows what this song means to him (or maybe he doesn't O_O) but the rest of us get to weave our personal experiences and emotions into the beautiful tapestry that is this piece of music, in order to find a meaning for ourselves. Songs that make you think are always the best. I listen to this song all the time, and still I am not entirely sure what it means to me. Peace. :) |

| The Cinematic Orchestra – To Build A Home Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It's pretty simple. The singer's Utopia is being threatened by some sort of outside force. He did everything he could to preserve that way of life, but it couldn't last, and now he has to learn to walk away. | |
| Matt Costa – Cold December Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I love what hotpocket has to say about this song. Especcially the Swallowing glass part. I just wanted to talk about the winter/summer metaphor. Summer represents all the times that they are together and he's happy. While winter is the opposite. I don't think that there is any physical distance between them, only emotional. But that emotional distance is so vast that it feels as if he's trapped in winter. |

| Jon Foreman – A Mirror Is Harder To Hold Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I feel like this song has two real meanings behind it. #1: Jon is saying that many times in our lives, we are dissapointed with the way things are playing out, so we seek to blame others, and "point the finger". The answer isn't in pointing the finger, but looking in the mirror, we are responsible for our lives. #2: Sometimes, a relationship has to end, even if we don't want it to. So we strive to keep that person as close to us as possible, even though we know it will all be in vain. Jon Foreman is an unbelievable musician and songwriter, and there is a lot to learn from his songs, and the songs of Switchfoot. |

| Seabear – I Sing I Swim Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
So, it's been a while since I've listened to this song. I used to agree with addiction, but now I have a different idea... I think this song is about a couple trying to maintain a long distance relationship. but now the singer has realized that it isn't going to work, and he would rather the girl he is singing to be happy and pursue her own dreams, instead of just wasting her time trying to be with him.... Just a thought, I really don't care what any of you think. P.S. Please please please, for the love of all that is holy.....stop drawing fucking false connections between great songs like this one, and that mediocre franchise of books!!!! Just a wake up call to all of you teenage girls, not everything in the world relates to Twilight!! |

| Miniature Tigers – Viking Hearts Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| One of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard! I wish I could write like this... | |
| Seabear – Owl Waltz Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
A few corrections, sorry... So I let the werewolf out I let the hungry mouths (have their way) .... .... .... And when you come home your song will turn into a drowning sound No sleep, no light No appetite, twist the ___ On the frozen ground That's it. this song is about trying to get closer to a loved one, who makes it more and more difficult to get close to them. I personally believe the singer is singing to a girlfriend, but that is kind of a biased view... It could really be anyone |
|
| Miniature Tigers – Tell It To The Volcano Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
The singer speaks of how he used to be head-over-heels for this girl. Now he's over her, and she is the one trying to get with him. Unfortunatly for her however, he wants nothing to do with her. I have no idea what the Volcano thing is about. I've seen every episode of LOST, and I don't think it is a reference to that show, I may be wrong though. Great song anyway... |

| Miniature Tigers – Cannibal Queen Lyrics | 16 years ago |

haha, so audrey is definently right... unless someone can prove me wrong and find any piece of literature or a movie that involves a "Mickey and Piu" These guys are avid fans of Lost, things like that don't pop into songs by accident. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Soul Meets Body Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's pretty simple actually, this song is the singer describing himself trying to find his Utopia. = ) | |
| Seabear – Hospital Bed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It's about drug rehab. Peeing into a jar represents getting tested. He then tries to leave but this second person he is reffering to (i assume it is his girlfriend) keeps him there.Grabbing onto the spider's neck is a withdrawl hallucination. I don't know about the squeezing of the blue out of the sky however, nor the rest of the song. More generally however, this song can be about anyone going through a really rough time in their life, but they have one person that helps them get through it, and stays with them the whole way. |

| Seabear – Cat Piano Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
i'm 99% sure it's "Wolf's in the basement" also, it's "Owl Girl, where have you been" Sindri mentions owls and even more specifically, the "Owl Girl," in a lot of their songs. Plus, "I woke up" wouldn't work because if you listen closely, there is no "P" sound at the end of that word, and you can faintly hear the "L" sound in its place. |

| The Format – Career Day Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I personally feel like I'm an overally ambitous person, which is why i'm able to relate to this song so well. It's a great song, and in my opinion its about this singer that is just failing in every facet of his life, but that doesn't prevent him from being optimistic. | |
| Ben Folds – Losing Lisa Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
First of all, i'm not going to tell anyone who thinks that this song is about suicide that they are wrong. Part of the reason that Ben Folds is so popular in the first place is due to the fact that he (and many many other artists) is very skilled at making songs relate to everyone in one way or another. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and if you want to think that she killed herself, thats fine with me. It's just not what I think.... Downsidedrum has the closest description to what i got out of the song, and i would like to provide a little of my thinking for why it is about that, and not suicide: "Losing Lisa"- he is LOSING her, she is not already lost. Being dead would make her lost. The breaking up of a friendship is something that happens somewhat more gradually "Her lips are moving, I am mesmerised By tiny lines/lies" (either one fits)- Well number one, dead people's lips don't move...plain and simple. Also, about being mesmerised, i believe it references him not really listening to her, but just sitting in shock as she is talking, taking note of the lines in her face as her lips move. He doesn't want to listen to what she has to say. As far as "black Tears" go, it could be literally talking about the mascara being washed away by the tears. Or it could be showing that she is crying because she is mad and upset at herself for leading him on, and causing this in the first place (which in my opinion is a very dark thing for a girl to do. Though they do it all the time) |

| Fionn Regan – Be Good or Be Gone Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I agree with Luey_baby and tedster, I think its an obituary for an old woman who was a child actress, and be good or be gone was her personal philosophy. | |

| Jon Foreman – The Cure For Pain Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
haha james I completely agree with you, I dont really like switchfoot, but i love Jon Foreman. Its saying that theres no use wallowing in self pity, trying feel better about yourself. the best thing you can do is just put the bad things in lie behind you and move on. like it says in the song "ive spent 10 years trying to sing gravity away, but the water keeps on falling from the sky" it means bad things will always happen to you, you just need to learn how to learn from them and move on. such a beatutiful song.... |

| Fionn Regan – Put a Penny in the Slot Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think this song means multiple things, but what it really speaks to me as, is unrequited love, listen to the whole song while thinking about that, it makes sense. | |
