| The Dear Hunter – The Pimp and The Priest Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| okkk... so to me it is a comparison of the similarity between the pimp and the priest and how they are the same person... also throughout the album the river is symbolizing her job as a prostitute and the lake represents her son... also the pimp represents her job and the priest her son because he must spend a lot of time there with no where else to go | |

first analysis but here goes.... to me this song is ms terri and her son trying to survive with with next to no money and how they are falling lower and lower... i think that when i says river and lake that it is ms terri trying to decide between her son and her work one being the river and the other the lake... any other thoughts??? |

| Rx Bandits – Only For the Night Lyrics | 17 years ago |

ok. So i agree that "the girl" matt speaks of is a metaphor for the drug itself, heroine in the song. I believe that the whole album is everything thats happens when taking the drug, not neccessarily in the lyrics, but in the music and the mood. " ...and the battle begun" is the narrarator getting the drugs. "in her drawer" is the narrarator preping for the drug by taking prescription pills to calm his nerves and prepare him for the drug. "Only for the night" is when is telling himself that this is the last time and when he actually takes the drug. "on a lonely screen", and "1980" are him on the trip and "One million miles an hour fast asleep" is him passed out and his trip and what goes through his head while asleep. "Apparation" is the narrarator coming down from the trip. "a mouth full of hollow threats" is when he decides that he has to stop and that there is no one at blame but himself. "Epoxi-lips" is him struggling against the drug and trying to stay strong, when it slows down to the creepy part he is actually dreaming of the drug. He wakes up in the middle of the night and as the song builds, his self-confidence builds saying "now is the time, its not too late" meaning he can beat the drug and it isnt to late to quit. At the end of the song it slows down as he falls back to sleep. "Tainted wheat" is him struggling to live his life without the drug and even turns to prescription pills to satisfy not being on the heroine. The drug is always on his mind, knawing at him. "to our unborn daughters" starts again with him dreaming of the drug. When the song kicks in he wakes up feeling very strong against the urge and truly believing that he can beat the drug. He goes around his room throwing away all his drugs and everything that reminds him of them. At the end he here's his bad side of his conscience saying "that he can never steal the love" which of course is the drug. "Crushing Destroyer" the whole song is a huge battle between his good conscience and his bad conscience. Each verse changes from his good to his bad conscience and they are battling for control. In the final verse, the bad overcomes the good. The final line is "lets fall in love" meaning taking the drug once more which he again believes is his only true love. The battle is between his good conscience and bad conscience. I believe that this is the best, most well written, as well as the saddest album of all time. After listening and finding the meaning of the album, I was brought to tears at the end when I realized that the battle had been lost. Tell me what you think and if you agree or disagree. -Mac Carlsen age 15 |
