| This really does seem like a tribute to Heinlein. Look at the first two lines, "Michael plays with stars; soul sister, won't you take a ride in his car?" I definitely get an "alien Messiah" vibe there. There's definitely some sexual ambiguity in the last few stanzas, as there was in the later chapters of Stranger. I find it hard to think of another way to interpret the Marlon Brando/Greta Garbo references than a way of saying "this buzz goes beyond gender" - certainly not a new theme for these queer-for-cash boys. The rest just seems like typical "rockstar good times" fare. | |

I signed up just to make this post, so I hope you appreciate it. I'm going to say that this is a last testament to a young woman from her widowed father who has a heart condition and has decided to end it all in, ahem, the best way possible. He's come to take a nihilistic view of human life - humans are no more than animals with bank accounts instead of cat food, so why resist the urges that come naturally? Why aspire, when aspiration only leads to further aspiration and perpetual unfulfillment? So he doesn't want to live in this world anymore; does he need this torture? "Over and overture" - it's her world now. That's the old man from the video; everything else in it is just a very literal representations of the music and lyrics. |
