Thrice – Moving Mountains Lyrics 17 years ago
Yah, i kinda agree with you bro

My interpretation was this man was the man who thinks he is a good Christian, knows and understands every aspect of faith "I argue with angels and always win". Does everything a "good" Christian should do, like prophecy or "Give all of my possessions to the poor". But that is not the idea of Christianity. It's about Love, to Love God, and one another.

But many people today see themselves as "a good Christian" if they follow all of the rules of the bible.

If they are hallow acts, or have no Love, then they are pointless. I think Dustin is saying you don't have to understand in an intellectual level to be a Christian, because "all other things shall fade away". You just have to Love. It's the only thing that counts.

Thrice – Come All You Weary Lyrics 17 years ago
Yup, totally agree. with everyone.

Jesus died on the cross to take up our burdens.

And by taking his yolk, he is calling us to love one another.

By giving up our yolk, or all our problems/burdens up to him, we will find rest.

Thrice – Broken Lungs Lyrics 17 years ago
While, yes, I do think the face value of this song is about 9.11, I think there is more to it. I think it's a metaphor to our lives.
He uses the imagery from 9.11 to portray our lives.

As the world around us changes "woke up to a new skyline". We just let it go unnoticed or just believe the lies "swallowed the story hook and sinker" as the world gets more secular.

And we see history repeat itself even though "we said we never would forget." because societies in the past have collapsed because of the corruptness that dwell inside it.

We have this ignorance that Dustin questions in this song.

And we see these buildings, or our morals and what we should believe in, burn. But we "Still breath with broken lungs" or just live our lives in this fire/hell. While our beings almost wither. The broken lung could symbolize our soul or who knows?

And as the scales fall from our eyes, we see this for what it's really worth, and all we can do is "scream from the roofs" (presumably to God) for "truth" and "justice".

Thats just my view, I know a lot of people don't like to see it in a Christian perspective, but his lyrics have helped and inspired me immensely spiritually.

Thrice – Daedalus Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about finding balance in your life. When you take this "Leap of faith", in terms of a spiritual relationship with god, you have to find a balance between the earth and the heavens. (Yes, I am looking at this from a Christian point of view). You must "Keep a steady wing". Fly too low (or live of this earth), and you will drown. Fly too high (or act like you are above God), and the wax will melt, and you'll drown as well.

I think it's already known that Dustin writes lyrics that can be understood in different aspects of life, so I'm not saying I'm right, it's just my point of view on it.
