Evans Blue – Kiss the Flag Lyrics 15 years ago
I think there's a lot of good interpretations here, and a lot of possibilities. Either way it's a great song, but what I get from it is the same post traumatic stress, and that it's definitely about the current war. Here's my breakdown.

Don't shoot until you see the red and white and blue in my eyes.
You say "We're straddling fences and it's not so comfortable."
He thinks he grew up to be boring and so he goes to change his life.

Obviously, about deciding to join the military. Straddling fences refers to the in between period after school and before the rest of your life, and the period when you're not sure what you want to do with your life. He wants his life to have a purpose (grew up to be boring) and so he joins the military to change his life.

I saw you get up on your toes but don't step back too fast,
Or you will cut yourself in half.

I think this refers to leaving combat, and that you can't just be thrown right back into regular day life without any consequences. You need time to adjust, or you will be emotionally effected. (PTSD)

I wanted, all I wanted was to find the something here inside of me they couldn't keep.
They woke up to hear me screaming.

This is about the mental and emotional state of a person. They being the enemy, I believe it refers to what is lost when a solider goes to war. Both physically (fellow soldiers, etc.) and the mental toll it takes on a person; killing a person, the loss of innocence, etc. He wants himself back. He wants some part of him so he feels war didn't take everything from him. As has been said, refers to PTSD.

Just shoot until you see the red on white and blue in my sky.
The proof is in the pictures and it's not so comforting.
He knows that one day they'll ignore him and push him to the side.

This refers to how people in general forget and take for granted the people who fought, not necessarily died for this country and what we have. We say we are thankful and everything, but unless personally involved, we do not truly FEEL anything, especially after the next generation comes along. Unless you did something extremely important, you will be just another name on some memorial somewhere. He is saying that although he is important today, 10 years from now everyone will have completely forgotten about the war. Who cares anymore or can remember names of any non family/friends from Desert Storm? Besides George Sr. anyway.

He said "He kissed the flag before he died, he took one for his country."
She said "I'd do anything to have him back.

I can't believe no one got this. It's not a wife or sibling, it's his parents. The feel in the beginning of the song, about straddling fences, etc. makes me believe it is an 18 year old. In the about quote, HE is the father, and She is that mother. His father is proud (He kissed the Flag before he died = he died for his country) and his mother just misses him.

I wanted, all I wanted was to find the something here inside of me they couldn't keep.
They woke up to hear me screaming.

Repeat

God help us.
God, where are you in this fight?
Cause no one knows which side you're on anymore, anymore.
I'm lost and by myself.

This is where I get it's about the current war. The war is obviously about religion. It refers to how the...muslims believe they are doing Allah's will. Both GOD's cannot be right, so which side is right? I'm lost and by myself is referring to PTSD.

When this ends will freedom be the casualty or will it only
Will it be only me?
Will it be only me?
Will it be only...

Obvious, has been said...Will the only results of the war be the loss of life?

Anyway, that's my take. Just another thought no one has said, that makes sense.

The story is in the 3rd person. It could be that it is not about PTSD at all. The story could be told in the eyes of a fellow soldier who is still in the war. It starts whit referring to "He" joining the army. "I" saw you get up on your toes...,
"I wanted, all I wanted was to find the something here inside of me they couldn't keep.
They woke up to hear me screaming." Could refer to the narrator losing this soldier and the nightmares from it. Then the narrator narrates the part about the parents.

Just another very possible interpretation that now that I really think about it, makes more sense.

Ill Niño – 2012 Lyrics 17 years ago
First off, this is an incredible song. I believe it has to do with the Mayan calendar ending December 21st 2012, and the supposed "end of the world as we know it" that is supposed to happen then.

The song illustrates the fact that we have become, as a species, impatient, materialistic, and the mentality of faster, more work, etc. etc. We're wasting our time on feeble things, and flying through the days. And if what the song implies in indeed true, we really don;t have the time...

Either way, it's a great song and worth listening to.
