Okay, I'm settling this whole Gilardi / Gerardi / Ghoulardi mess. If any of you bought the CD and have the brains to actually read the fucking booklet, the lyrics say Jack GILARDI. Now I dunno who the man is or what his relavence in the song is at the moment, but that's what's printed in the official Mezmerize lyrics. So glad I could help. |

| Serj Tankian – The Unthinking Majority Lyrics | 17 years ago |

The very beginning of this song sets up the atmoshpere, which happens to be rather dingy and metallic. On it's grungy and dark jog through the "post-industrial society", the song makes a sudden turn and BAH! Serj suddenly appears on the scene running right along next to the intensely fast acoustics. On his way, he decides to scream his heart and lungs out over the problems of the world; These include such wonderful topics as Fucked Up Democracy, Blind Tyranny, and a Misguided Civilization. Just when you think that the song might implode from sheer force, the scorching wave of sounds halts at an bizarre intersection and yields to Serj calmly tapping away at the piano. As he does so, he soothingly sings about anti-depressants and their taming effects, nearly embodying the lyrics. Suddenly the blistering meteor of sound is on its way again and Serj is riding atop it, still screeching out the errors and issues of our world. But it goes as quickly as it comes, and soon the interlude regarding mind-altering drugs is back. Wait a few seconds and the heatwave is sprinting off once more. Only this time it takes a much more political turn, specifically commenting on the motives for invading Iraq. The rest of the song follows in typical chaotic fashion. As for the song as a whole, it is a delightful battle for dominance between two savage sources of strength, one a speeding bullet of music, the other a marching behemoth of chants. Between the two is a hypnotically attractive and melodic lull that seems like it won't fit at first. However, the strange breaks in power do much to make this masterpiece what it is. Nearly Perfect. |

If you read the lyrics without any music to back them, they're really about terrible, terrible things: Corruption, Destruction, Genocide, Etc. But leave it to SOAD, a truly talented collective, to turn major world problems into a bizarre, amazing and somehow entertaining song! |

Well, let's see here... Disregarding the allusions to a problematic love (which I agree with) I see other meanings in parts of the song. Here we go: "The arms of time are breaking off, Civilization is on trial..." appears to be saying that we're out of time, we've gone off on the wrong path and now we're really fucked over. "The clocks eliminating time..." could be another reference to our thoroughly screwed up way of life. Stay with me now. Clocks are merely a way of expressing humanity's novel idea of containing what we call time. Still there? Okay, so the clocks (maybe a symbol for civilization) are eliminating what time, space, and life are all truely about. "Do you believe in me?" Is just asking if the audience is faithful. However, if you interpret "me" as "fate or destiny" the question is asking if you can let go of this rigid society and just let fate/destiny guide you onward. The variation on this line later in the song "Do you believe in nothing?" is again asking if you can let yourself go to the unknown future. If you read the lyrics to Science by System of a Down, especially: "Letting the reigns go to the unfolding is faith..." it's the same message, only now it's in a different package. "I've been walking through these dead farms..." Perhaps the farms are dead due to pesticides, etc. which are direct results of our society? "...But I don't mind" might be saying that even though we're aware of our destructive ways, we've been conditioned to be okay with it all. However, we rely on what we've killed, therefore leading to our end. "I've been screaming though these dead lungs..." is Serj saying that any message he may be trying to send, no matter it's importance, is going completely unheard by the masses. There you have it! My strange speculations on a wonderous song. They aren't perfect and I never said they were...Lemme know what you think. |

You're SURE it's not by the Dropkicks? Because the version I heard sounds exactly like 'em. Maybe I should just pay more attention. Whoever it's by, it's one of the funniest songs I've heard in awhile and great to sing along to! |

I belive that it has two distinct halves in it. The first depicts the scene of a desperado freshly escaped from jail. He's managed to ride out into the baking desert, but on his way he was bittne by a snake and is slowly dying from the poison. The second half is the permanent ultimatum for the desert itself, warning that it can never be conquered anyone, "whether it be man or beast." Perhaps one of my favorites, this is a uniquely well-rounded song. |

| A friendly romp with your neighborhood zombies! It's just a catchy, joyfully morbid song. | |
| Nightwish – Master Passion Greed Lyrics | 17 years ago |

When you listen to this song you can almost FEEL the hate eminating from it. The slow, ominous build-up, the violent acceleration of it. And then the lyrics are practically thrown at the listener with an explosive scream from Marco...And that's all in just the first minute! The lyrics here are amazing (as they are in many Nightwish songs) and I have to agree with the post at the top: They really don't like this Marcelo guy. |

| Flogging Molly – To Youth (My Sweet Roisin Dubh) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's a nostalgic warning to the innocent to keep what you love. But if you happen to lose it (Like the train that derails without warning) sometimes you just can't go back (We must leave what we left far behind). The specific example here is when Dave King was exiled from Ireland, his Roisin Dubh. | |
