David said this song was about a relationship. About a person who comes into your life. Offers you love and happiness and then leaves you. And this happens more than once. The most obviously lyric in the song that gives this meaning away is FORGET THE WAY YOU LED ME THROUGH THE PATH INTO HEAVEN, TO LEAVE ME BEHIND Heaven represents all that love and joy. And then she left him for someone else. So she probably got that love and joy, but David was left without it. |

The song is about the Devil convincing a guy to kill himself, because he is alone. "You will release your life." That's how David writes, Kill yourself (See Inside the Fire). "Forgetting what is forsaken" The Bible tells you never to take a life, so it's forsaken. The Devil is telling the guy to forget about God's morals. "From the heart of darkness....For you are next to no one." That whole little part, is about when the guy comes to the Devil. His spirit raging on, because he is reaching that state of insanity. And the Devil tells him to kill himself, that's the only way. I'll do one more part, then go to another song. "You will release your life(Kill yourself.) Joining with the goddamn world(Go to hell.)
