i think this song is about a time in her life when everything is going perfectly and she's looking forward to a big change, like leaving a previous life behind for something new and better, but she doesn't want to deal with with leaving anyone behind because there's nothing she or anyone can do to save it. |

beautiful. this is a pretty simple song to understand. i think it's just about life in general, missing the big picture. all of the beauty of life being stripped down to what we make of it. |

i completely disagree with mockingsmile in saying "this isn't particularly good for RK." i happen to think it's one of the best songs on the whole execution album. |

I agree with ecksohhhh. Unless you have been in this situation before, you probably wouldn't really understand.
This song is about a girl with a guy friend with a girlfriend, and they both like each other, but he would rather deny the affair, preserve the appearance of his integrity, and blame everything on the girl instead of taking responsibility for himself and his feelings. It's a frustrating situation to be in. |

In the movie Adaptation, Donald Kaufman says:
"You are what you love, not what loves you, I decided that a long time ago."
And I agree with smorgasborg. I really wish this version had been recorded. |

These lyrics are really confusing, but I think this song might be about a relationship where both significant others are fighting over nothing and the person trying to help them resolve their problems (narrator) is envious because she sees an enduring and loving relationship. That might be a long shot, but I wish I had another perspective. |

I agree with wannabesluts. I can't count how many times I have thought the same exact thing!
Anyway, love this song. The part that goes:
"We talk the way you do
And I have a sweet or two
For my only plus you say
They're getting bigger every day"
I have to agree with CommonInsanity and say that I think she is referring to the children she has with the guy. But, believing the song is about her boyfriend cheating on her, like Ana Marie said, then it would make sense either way. She could be referring to her boobs. She eats, her boyfriend gives her crap about it, and he says the only 'plus' is that her boobs are getting bigger. I have trouble believing that's what they are referring to, though, just because how awkwardly metaphorically it is worded. It just makes a lot more sense to me that she's talking about the children she (possibly) has with him and he says that the only good thing about them is that they are getting bigger (or older) everyday. I'm not completely sure, though. Both ideas sound weird in that context. |

"Is that what you call tact?
You're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back
So let's end this call and end this conversation
And is that what you call a getaway?
Tell me what you got away with
'Cause you left the frays from the ties you severed
when you say, best friends means friends forever"
BEAUTIFUL.
This is a great song, but I don't understand the relation between this and Taking Back Sunday's 'There's No I In Team.' Can someone explain to me the situation? |
