Are the comments section for discussing the songs meaning or arguing like a group of uppity scene kids over which bands are better? Dont come her trying to reassure yourself by cutting down things you dont like.... anyhow getting to the meaning: The Singer was clearly crossed by someone they trusted, he plots revenge in the worst way he can imagine, and he follows through ripping the victims foundation from underneath them this lyric is the one that most represents that 'I’ll make you suffer alone. And make you think it was meant to be. I’ll rip apart your soul. And make you think it was meant to be.' |

| I like this band very much, I've been listening to them for a few years now, I've seen them live, met them, and I've enjoyed every song they have written and played including this one. With that said as a soldier, serving in Iraq as I write this, I have to respectfully disagree with the entire message that the lyrics send. It's one thing to be in the states and see what the news shows you, and it's a terribly different thing to be here and truly witness whats going on. | |

I just don't get why its always a competition, if you come here, post about the meaning of the song... damn.. So now that your all done crying and swishing your emo hair in front of your face Ill give my personal analysis of the song: He very blatant in the lyrics the song is clearly about someone who was a romantic interest and he had put his whole heart and trust into that person and that person was very deceptive and manipulative. The most impressive lyric in this song is: 'Of all the stupid things in my life I fell for this I fell for this' Think about all the asinine bullshit you see or put up with everyday and the one thing you trust the most is what eventually brings you to your knees..... very powerful song |

This song for the most part had been covered by everyone already, there are a few parts of it that id like to elaborate or point out: The first simply being the name of the song; You got a henna tattoo that said forever This signifies the constant and blatant hypocrisy he faced with said female. 'Thought I was digging deep. Thought I was breaking the bank. But girls like you are just a dime a dozen. Just a dime a dozen.' This part signifies all the blood, sweat, tears, or simply effort that he put into the relationship, and how after all was said and done he saw that she wasn't any better than any of the other trashy girls he could have easily been with. 'Movie quotes and lyrics still connecting us like constellations. I wonder if I could ever seperate myself from this.' This is, in my opinion, the very best quote on the entire album, as we all know every relationship will grab little things ie; movie quotes or lyrics that are significant to a couple, but the part about connecting us like constellations is refering to the dead of space between each star and how the words of quotes and lyrics don't mean shit, but the two stars that are pulled together by them are very important, he goes on to say that it will be hard to ever hear said quotes because of what they once meant to him. And finally 'my eyes still scream childhood' another amazing lyric, hes likening himself unto a child, hes an extremely innocent person and thats why he feels like hes been cut so deep. and like most others have said Emmure is a brilliant and excessively talented band, if you think they are good through headphones, well all I can say is you NEED to see them live! |
