"When I was five years old My best friend's older brother died He fell from these cliffs And the river washed him away The current pulled him downstream And our lives float in the headlines So we park these cars In our parents' garage To listen to the lullaby Of carbon monoxide" the whole beging to this song is a reference to bergenfield, new jersey in the 1980s when there were multipal teen suicides. john major was drunk and had "fallen" off the cliffs one night and died..around a year later his girlfriend and 3 of his friends had went to garage 74 in foster village in bergenfield and used carbon monoxide to kill them selves. For a while it said "teenage-wastland" on the door to garage 74, but it was washed off. there were also many other suicides in bergenfield, including kids jumping infront of trains, and a kid drowning in a pond. |
