to tie into the whole concept of this album as one about anne frank I see this in some ways as a twisted song of hope but at the same time a song that reminds us never to forget. I think the first verse of the song is Anne telling her father not to despair (he was the only member of the family to survive the Holocaust). The whole thing about wanting a child to his chest is just him wanting his family back. One of my favorite lines is " Brother, see, we are one in the same" b/c it just sums up the whole idea that when it comes down to it people are people and we are not all that different from one another. |

In the film "Anne Frank- The Whole Story" It literally portrays Anne dyeing next to her sister (or something along those lines) This image always comes into my head during the line "with just her sister by her side" This movie came out in '01 and i know the song came out before it but it just fits so well |
