Ryan Adams – Now That You're Gone Lyrics 17 years ago
Lyric correction:
"I ain't afraid of hurt; I've had so much it feels just like normal to me now".
I don't think it's about a lover who's gone. I think of it as a tribute to his grandpa with whom he was close, who has passed away. That's why he's able to be in the person's "room" in the person's "house". The person died and is "gone for good". It's terribly lonely to lose someone you love to death, knowing you'll never see the person again.

it's about all the "shit" that goes round and round in your head...even the good things like poems and nonexistent conversations...you want to do stuff that will make it stop or at least change. negative=tricks; positive=treats.
he quit doing drugs but he's interested in the darker scenes he's always been interested in ("it's alright--I just watch I don't go inside")...the imagery of black cats etc. is the stuff he sees on his late-nite walkabouts when he can't sleep but can't do drugs/alcohol.
Even after going for a long walk, he can't get his head to stop... "what the fuck's wrong with me?"

Ryan Adams – Everybody Knows Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree except I think it's HIM that's in love, not his woman.

"How I'm going to hold on to you when I'm spinning out of control"

I think that line refers to him wanting to keep her but his life is too f'd up...and "everybody knows" she's going to leave him, I assume for the guy who "says a name" (hers).
