Deals with a lot of issues. On one hand the corporate grip on art and music, the way it twists meanings and corrupts artists, but even those who swear "never to sell out" have to eat. Because of this many people turn to the past for truth in art, but their perception is skewed by the fact that they ignore a lot of the crap that was being put out (every famine virtual) because they did not have to suffer it, and thus they are but channel surfers. Truth itself is an impossibility, and thus Dunn is suffering Retro vertigo. It's a very self critical song and a brilliant one at that. Could apply to anything, history itself, memories, but i think in this case its specifically talking about the music industry. |

Dee Dee ramone was a male prostitute who hung out on 53rd and 3rd, My guess is he felt a lot of shame for his actions, so he wrote this song as a coping mechanism, its his own fantasy of lashing out on his past, he creates a portrait of this vietnam veteran (a manifestation of his anger and shame toward himself, as well as possibly johnny's conservative pro war stance) who uses violence to "undo" what he partook in, the same way Dee Dee wishes he could undo his homosexual activities. I know you guys think im going too deep into this, but notice how Dee Dee himself sings the part about taking out the razor blade. |

But seriously "faggot" in the context of the song which is "a human disgrace" is pretty fucking homophobic if you ask me, this isnt like Dr. Dre saying "Fuckin faggot ass Eazy E" as an ignorant but nonchalant insult, Chuck is literally talking about killing homosexuals here, not cool.
while my first comment was intended as a joke, it could be founded in some truth, people who hate homosexuals to the point of wanting to kill them, especially without religious influence (which Chuck did not have) usually have had stints with homosexuality themselves and feel ashamed about it, look at Dee Dee Ramone's song 53rd and 3rd, it was basically his way of lashing out at his past as a gay prostitute. |

shadowitheyes, thats totally flawed logic, hes telling black people to band together and fight racism.....with more racism. Thats the same logic as "the white man is trouble, we need to get together and kill those N*****s!!" its just viewed in a different way. This whole idea of "they were racist to us so lets be racist to them" is backwards and regressive thinking that only causes more problems. I like Ice Cube and i think he is talented but this is downright racist and should be dealt with the same way white racism is.

i am jewish just to let you know, i think its stupid to call slayer nazis or even racists for writing this song, if you did that you would have to accuse steven speilberg a nazi for directing schindlers list or any other holocaust documentary maker. they are in no way siding with the nazis on this one, just retelling the story. and trust me just from judging by Tom Arayas scream at the beginning you can tell they are not all like "the nazis are cool". slayer fucking rule, i kind of liked Hell awaits better because it had a more raw production quality and more harsh vocals. and to some of the people here about the real event, all the stuff here actually did happen, in fact it only scratches the surface of the stuff he did to people. and he was not tried for his crimes because he did let some jews free and he gave medical information to the united states government, he died later in argentina, Israeli assassins tried to kill him but they could never find him. personally i would have shoved Kerry Kings BC rich up his ass than performed all of his experiments on him, or i would have resurrected all the people he killed and have them eat his flesh while blasting SLAYER!. |

Arpeggi probably has something to do with arpeggios, because thats what the guitar line is. As for why Radiohead offered their last album free, PR!!! and it worked, thats how i got into them |

i never really got the point of this song. i never liked the whole facist dictator part of the wall. it really seamed to digress from the whole meaning of the album. the entire point is your supposed to feel sympathy for the main character but how can you when hes a facist dicator asshole. Someone stated that the whole idea was kind of a joke. so why did pink floyd write multiple songs around a joke in what is supposed to be a serious album. also how can a rock star lead a bunch of people to rape and kill?? maybe im taking this a bit literarlly but this part of hte album kind of confuses me. i like the first half of the album because it is something i can relate to but the second half just gets way out of whack. can somebody help explain this to me. |

The wall just doesnt flow as well as Dark Side, Animals, or meddle. Its funny too because its a concept album so its supposed to flow better. The story kinda fell to peices, it goes from being locked up emotionally to this whole nazi dicator shit Wtf??? dont get me wrong its a great album and there are some brilliant songs on it but i just dont liek it as much as animals. |
