This song to me plays with the Edgar Allen Poe story 'A Tell Tale Heart". To quickly summarize, it's about a guy who kills this old man and hides him under the floorboards, and as he's telling the story of this murder, he keeps reminding the reader that he's not crazy (even though he is), and he when the police come to check out what happened, he almost gets away with the murder, but he keeps "hearing" the heartbeat of the dead man under the floorboards, and he swears that everyone can hear it, but it's all in his mind because he's crazy. I think this song kind of alludes to that. He had this love, that ended and he kind of buried it away, or so he thought. No matter how hard he tries to ignore it, he'll forever hear the beating of this love. And he sees the "ghost" of this girl, the love that died away, and I'm sure everyone around him, even the girl, says the love is gone, but he keeps seeing it, everywhere he goes. At the end he says that HE'S the one who can't leave. He can't let "her" (the love) be alone, even though he's the one that's keeping it there. |

| As Tall as Lions – Acrobat Lyrics | 17 years ago |

this song is definitely not about a circus. it's two metaphors describing different types of beauty... imagine an acrobat soaring through the top of a circus tent. as a kid that's the most amazing beautiful thing, but being the acrobat, you're risking your life, you're living on a limb just to be that center of attention? Do you still want to be beautiful? even if it means always having to be on display? you're always beautiful, no matter what you do. think of the cigarette. for a long time, the smoker was a glamourous thing. so many people love cigarettes that they become addicted, but what do they do with them? they smoke them, they use they and they throw them away and let them burn to ash. Do you still wish you were beautiful, even if it meant someone was going to use you for a minute? He's saying you'll always be beautiful, no matter what. |

| I think the character in this song is severely depressed. So many things could have happened to him to get him to this state, but he's there, and he wishes he weren't. His way out is suicide. Everything in his life is blurring out, and if it were possible, he'd turn his life off for a moment to recollect. However, he knows that if he turns it off, there's no turning it back on, and he's reasoning with himself to the point of deciding.. it's worth it. | |
| As Tall as Lions – Milk and Honey Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think this song is about a relationship that is nearing it's end, but the guy can't decide whether to let it go or give it a second chance. He's saying: "You push me out again, you push me up against a wall." I think what he's saying is that this girl is pushing him away, and he has the sense to be afraid (to leave and to be alone) but he also has the sense to a be a fool (to stay, and pretend it's working) and he's "on the fence, to make you stay (with him so it's his fault no hers) or to be cruel (and let her go). | |
