this song i believe, is an extremely powerful song. I believe that it is about you yearn to wake up in the morning and everything to get better. our world in general is about as screwed as it can get and i believe that is what he is singing about. ben harper has definately regained himself. |

i think that this song is about a child leaving home. it is a mother singing to their son/daughter. they say "if you be my star I'll be your sky" like if you let me support and be your building blocks for your life, i'll let you run off and have more room to grow and live and be yourself. "just leave me your stardust to remember you by" like, i know that you're grown now and i know you have to move on, but just leave me with all these wonderful memories. i love this song. |

i think that it has NOTHING to do with self mutilation! im a competitive dancer and im doing my solo to this song. i think this song is just about to struggles of everyday life. the cuts and bruises along the way. i deal with it all the time. |
