| Asher Roth – I Love College Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
You cant deny its catchy, and most people who've been to college (well, university back here in the UK) can relate in some way. OK, its hardly groundbreaking new music, but you'd have no complaints with this coming on at a party. More importantly, heres some rap in the mainstream that talks about something more than guns and money. More, please. |

| Thirteen Senses – The Salt Wound Routine Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"And honestly I don't see the need for any routines" I always heard that as: "And honestly I dont see the need for ending with tears" But I stand corrected :P What an amazing song. Seems to have been deliberatly crafted to allow you to interpret it in your own way. Definatly seems to have undertones of drifting through life without a real focus though. Yet the last lines, "I walked in a house, it smelled of paint" etc. Does anyone else interpret this as a metaphor for a new beginning?? Rob :) |

| Jeff Buckley – Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Been trying to work this song out, and for me, its a series of metaphors on the subject of love First verse : The complexity in understanding emotions Second verse : Being changed, domesticated even, by the one you fell for Third verse : A reflection on how love often isn't pure, just a compromise between two people who are scared to be alone Fourth verse : Refelctions on the sexual aspects of a relationship, and the emotions, rather than just the physical feeling felt during sex Fifth verse : That love is not some noble gesture, it just happens sometimes, to anyone, and its rarely as great and simple as it is often made out to be. Well, thats my interpretation anyway :) |

| The Verve – Rather Be Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Amazing song or what?! Sounds like a lovesong on the surface, but am i the only one drawing parallels with relations between the band? They've just got back together, and despite the often sketchy relations between Ashcroft and McCabe, ("Always living under some cloud, Always on the eve of destruction...") being a part of The Verve, and making awesome music like this is what he really wants... | |
| The Verve – Valium Skies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
OK, lets get these lyrics right eh...? How do you keep yourself from falling? Seems like the whole world is, losing How do you stop yourself from giving in? Seems like the whole world is, crying... She got all I need Yeah, the air I breath, When it comes to my valium skies She don't mind if I cry How do you stop your lover from crying? Even though you knew she knew you was lying How do you stop this world from loathing? Still know nothing with all these cards Im holding (and everything above is right after that point :) Not Ashcrofts best effort, lyrically, but wow, what a song!Highlight of the album?? |

| The Verve – Come On Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song makes a lot of sense...As the album progresses, the band explore more and more themes of harsh realities and missed oppertunities, but always in a fairly objective way. This, the closing track on the album, is Ashcroft's chance to let it all out. Instrumentally, this is the heaviest track on the album, and also the one with the strongest lyrics. The 'fuck you's' are the only expletives on the entire album, and as the song progesesses, you can almost feel the tension building, untill is is released in an explosion of sound in a way that only The Verve can create...Utter genius.... | |
| Richard Ashcroft – Break The Night With Colour Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Definatly based around Ashcroft's depression, but theres more to it than that, its not just self pity. He's opened his feelings up, given the listener things they can relate to. 'Nothings going right today, coz nothing ever does...' We've all been there. Epic lyrics, as always, and love the the flute part, really original. Love it! | |
| Richard Ashcroft – Cry Til The Morning Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Think it's just a very raw song about the mix of emotions that being in love brings, the bad parts as well as the good. Amazingly moving, just listen to how Ashcroft sings the line 'And sweet love in the process' Think the music conveys just as much as the lyrics here, we can all relate to this song somehow. | |
| The Verve – Sonnet Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Sounds like looking back at the end of a relationship. 'My friend and I'- Thats no throwaway, line, he's bitter that they're just friends 'Yeah, there's love if you want it'- He's offering her a second chance, i think everybody can relate to this song at some stage. Really is amazing, Ashcroft is a living legend. |

| The Verve – Lucky Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Call me an optimist here but maybe this is a happier song than it seems on the face of it. Although Ashcroft accepts that 'All the love I have is in my mind', he's still ready to feel and let people in, 'I watch you look at me, watch my fever growing' Its a song about finding yourself, being comfortable with who you are, and its a truly epic piece of music |

| Arctic Monkeys – Perhaps Vampires Is a Bit Strong But... Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Epic song and love the band, their 1st album was the soundtrack to a year of my life, but anyway; Anybody think this song has something to do with people trying to hold you back? I mean look at the line "You'd have been better to stay round our way Thinking about things but not actually doing the things" Thats exactly the attitude of so many people from Northern English indusrial towns these days, such as sheffield where these guys are from. Believe me, i can relate to what they're saying here. |
