| I love Blur but I hate this song. It's not even their style. | |

I think this song is about a hypochondriac. Seems like he's mocking someone who always thinks there's something wrong with them for nonensible reasons that are laughable at best ("I swallowed too much oily water, now it's slipping down my spine."). The music is pretty "out there", and almost has a paranoid vibe to it, especially at the end with the noise over and over. It could also just be about someone in a paranoid state of mind within a dream... or it could be someone having a problem telling the difference between dreams and reality. The lyrics are pretty abstract; it's hard to pinpoint its meaning... I love this song though. Radiohead probably wishes they came up with this one for The Bends or something. |

| Oops, I meant to say "I really do think this song is a warning to people who will try to force themselves to fall in love with someone who may basically be wrong for them, but decided to stay with that person over others simply because of their religion." People do it just because it's a lot more socially acceptable, even if they know it isn't the best idea. | |

People are reading into the lyrics too much I think. I actually heard this on Guitar Hero and the lyrics struck me as being interesting. I think the general idea behind the song is that this girl is religious, and the guy she fell for is not ("he doesn't look a thing like Jesus") but he's still a great person ("talks like a gentleman"), like she imagined WHEN SHE WAS YOUNG. Common sense: When people are young they really aren't thinking about things that _may_ become bigger to them later on in life, such as religion. I really do think an warning to people who will try to force themselves to fall in love with someone who may basically be wrong for them, but decided to stay with that person over others simply because of their religion. |

| Generally speaking, this song makes more sense now than it did when it first came out. Brilliant. | |
