I think you're pretty much dead on, Amanda, except for the "dream." I think it's saying that he spends all of his time dreaming that he never wants to wake up. He's so desperate for that sleep because she can always be fresh on his mind throughout the night, even when she's not physically present. Also that he doesn't actually admit to the girl that he loves her. He tries to get her to fall in love with him, and everyone time he wants to come out and say it, he's "tongue tied" and can't bring himself to words. The last couple lines suggest that she's already left or moved away and he lost his chance. |

I can really relate to this song right now, except not so much as if it was a boy-girl relationship, but like a best friend relationship. Like your friend always spends time with his girlfriend and seems to forget about you and how you feel. And then you know you could do so much to hurt them, but choose not to because you are, after all, best friends... and you end up just "crawling" back to them.

One of the best songs this band has a written. I think this song is Aaron talking to God, looking back at what happened with his girlfriend and grandma. A perfect album closer for one of my favorite albums of all time. |
