Project 86 – Cement Shoes Lyrics 14 years ago
Eh, I just copy/pasted off the P86 Web site. I'll edit it later on when I'm at an actual computer, if you'd like. (I'm on my phone, at the moment.)

House of Heroes – Baby's a Red Lyrics 15 years ago
The entire album that this song is on kind of has a WWII theme to it, so I think this was just kind of a fun song that they wrote that fit nicely into the album. And I guess to some extent it can make the point that love can overcome adversity, even love that may be viewed as 'forbidden' by society.

House of Heroes – Journey Into Space (Part One) Lyrics 15 years ago
Actually, it is "tonight." In the actual song he throws in a drawn out "and" at the end of the line for the sake of having the proper number of syllables. I took the lyrics here right out of the lyric sheet that comes with the album, though.

He essentially does the same thing at the end of the line, "We'll find where we begin again." Probably some others as well. (I wouldn't be surprised.)

The Classic Crime – The Way That You Are Lyrics 15 years ago
From an interview with Matt MacDonald (lead singer) at JesusFreakHideout.com:

---

Question: Is "The Way That You Are" inspired by anyone specific?

Matt: "You know, it's really inspired by people watching, and I do it a lot. My mom told me when I was a kid, I used to swear to God I was a psychic and that I could read people's minds *laughter* but I'm pretty sure that's not true. But I believe now I am not a psychic but I do like to sit and look at people sometimes and look at their actions and how they interact. "

"And we're on tour a lot, we're traveling a lot, looking out windows a lot so sometimes it gets my mind reeling about 'what is that person, why is that person the way they are?' And trying to figure out who they are and try to put a story to what made them who they are, what made them dress like that, act like that, or twitch like that, or laugh like that, you know? And they're definitely fictional characters but I think they're very real characters in that there are people who, the characters in the 'The Way That You Are,' the story, could identify with. And so that was the idea behind that, just to put something out there that maybe someone could sing along to and go, 'that's me,' you know? Or 'I relate to that in some way' or 'I have a friend like that.'"

---

I don't know about anyone else, but I know I can definitely relate to the first person in this song. I tend to just keep quiet in a lot of situations and listen to what other people are saying instead of putting my self out there in the middle of things. I also saw a theme of not letting others dictate who you are, much like Maenberlin pointed out.

Oh, and for the record, I post this interview just to give some insight into what Matt thinks of the song. Obviously, it can mean different things to different people, and I'm not trying to say that it can only be interpreted the way that he (or I) interprets it.

Peace.

So, if anyone knows what the title of the bonus song that's tacked onto the end of this song (on the CD) is, I'd love to know. :)

Secret And Whisper – XOXOXO Lyrics 16 years ago
@kazikame: I don't think you're insane; I hear "don't die on me" as well. :P

Also, in response to the second part of your comment, I think that sounds quite reasonable. I just watched the video on youtube and, interestingly enough, if you look closely at his mouth at about 1:55 and 2:57, it seems he pretty clearly mouths the words "as *we're* falling apart" instead of "as *they're* falling apart. Perhaps a little easter egg in the video to convey the message a bit more clearly? :o Who knows...

Oddly enough, he also still seems to mouth "don't fail on me" at 1:48 and 2:50, which is different from what I hear *and* what the lyrics say (he adds the "on"). XD
