If you haven't seen the "Live at the Palladium" DVD, Greg clearly states that these are the 3 worst words any religion can use together. |

I think this song is about going to church and trying to find the truth, but finding truth in religion and the bible is not an easy task, thus going to church and being brainwashed by the priests and ministers would be like social suicide |

I think this song is about how people are afraid to accept the future and that they would rather live present and future life as the past, although what happened in the past may very well be a starting area for what the future will be like (the great depression of 1929 and now we are about to hit another great depression, or a huge war like WW2 and now we are fighting a never ending war in Iraq). People are afraid of the future, but the future is a reoccurance of the past. |

I didn't really like this song too much when i first got this album, but now it's one of my favorites. It's about Jesus and how Society relies on the bible and hanging crosses everywhere (church, homes, etc.) because he keeps society in line and not out of order. basically stating, Jesus is the authority figure watching over us and making sure we aren't doing anything wrong, otherwise there are consequences. |

First of all, I don't like poppy music like this song, but I guess since it's strung out, this song has really gotten my attention with its poppy sound. I love the song, but agree that I don't like the title simply because it's the same title as an All American Rejects song....fuck them. Anyways, this song to me sounds like we all have something going on in our heads and world that people wouldn't understand, even if we try to explain it to them. thats my take on it |

To add on to my previous comment, I think it also has to do with how, in college, people want to get others to join frats and sororities, and after you get in, after all the promises that these self-righteous pricks make to you, the promises are broken and you have to be their bitch to gain any kind of status from them, and it almost seems pointless to the point of giving up. Thus goes for the second part where it sounds like Mr. Greg is singing about kids being recruited to the military and they feel like they aren't going anywhere but to be tortured and ridiculed until they finally break down, but it doesn't matter because they are told that they will amount to nothing without joining A: the frat/sorority, or B: The military |

To me, this song pretty much means that they give us only 2 roads to walk down: Go to school and be brainwashed by professors or join the military and be brainwashed by the Generals, etc... and we "have to" take their word on everything or else we amount to nothing. I only went to college for 2 years, and am doing better now than I was in college. So you don't really need college or the military to become successful, but society limits us down to those two options at the given time |
