This is a simplified and IMO quite literal, obvious interpretation of this track, but I don't have time to C&P all the verses I've been digesting. It starts with a child stealing candy from the store, then, "11's arm" digs through his mommas purse for fireworks, etc. "but a klepto tangent preface the grand canvas" is a foreshadowing of later into the track, as things get deeper. "kept petty theft on a post-it , later apply the motives to a moment on some grown shit" is another example of that. "trickery and back-talk fresh out of high school, on the prickly catwalk of the modern grind slide rule, every last number in his history got itʼs own little hustle to nuzzle up with the victory," Now older, this metaphorical kid is now coming in to the real world, and his past victories give him more confidence to go bigger, get more. probably jacking people, stealing other than just shoplifting, etc. Adm was right in his post though, Aesop definitely says "One by one like little confused penguins, Larceny's [yes-men who used to use] weapons," I interpret "Larcenty's yes men" as larcenists (thieves, basically) who can't resist the urge, or perhaps stopped but it's still in the back of their mind, hence the "used to use weapons." "if an eyeʼs on the prize and the itch ainʼt flushed, i hope the fruits of your labor outlive the initial rush" Basically, if you haven't learned your lesson and end up getting fucked over or up stealing from somewhere or someone (or just in general) you better hope the fruits of your labor outweigh the initial rush. and they usually don't, karma can be a bitch. Basically my interpretation is how something small like stealing nilla wafers when you're 9 or taking money from your mom's purse when you're 11 can escalate into not only kleptomania but just an urge to steal in general, jacking people for drugs or money for drugs, for example. |
