My very short interpretation; They were in love. She hurt him. He resents her. He still loves her but he pretends otherwise. She knows this, she can tell he's lonely but she feels there is nothing she can do but leave him alone. "but it seems now, there's nothing you want me to do" she gives up trying to "take the sadness from those eyes" she goes away "for a long, long time" but still he hasn't came looking to her "passed my door" Everyday she wants to tell him she loves him and make those sad eyes happy eyes, but she keeps her "love as light as a feather" and her "heart breaking in the dark" she doesn't tell him. she's "trying to hold it together" after all it was her who did the hurting. |
