The band sheds a little light on the origins of the lyrics to The Funeral at the end of this interview: www.triplej.net.au/mel/ kittenangel posted the link earlier but no one seemed to be paying attention so I reposted. For those who don't care to click the link, they basically say in the interview that by "occasion" they are referring to birthdays, christmas, etc when everyone gets excited and buys gifts and plans events and goes crazy--and the writer just can't get into these things, he doesn't feel what they do, he can remain stoic as a funeral. This doesn't explain the rest of the song to me, though. Any new insights after knowing this much? |
