I am sick of every asshole on here stating that every new song is about Johnny. Why do you people keep insinuating this? Ever since Johnny left, you people even assume that all of the OLDER songs are about Johnny. NO! What is wrong with you people? Why would a band as complex as DGD take the time and effort to write every single song about some washed up asshole who ruined them? DGD would not give Johnny that amount of respect to acknowledge that he ruined the band so much that all they can do now is write songs about him. NO, THIS SONG IS NOT ABOUT JOHNNY, NOR OR ARE ANY OF THE OTHER SONGS. If you truly knew what this band was about, you would know they aren't the kind of people to dwell on shit like this. Rather, they laugh it off and just make fun of the poor schmuck the rest of his life. Most/all of DGD lyrics are either impossible to full determine, or are very vague either because they are just throwing shit together that comes out in such an intriguing way it is awesome or it is too hard to decipher it. But just stop with all of this criticism about every song being about Johnny. |

We all miss Johnnys' voice in DGD, but Kurt is doing a hell of a job; fantastic. I don't even miss Johnny when I listen to the new tracks, it's like Johnny was never there, and this is how they always have been. As for Emarosa, they went down hill in my opinion. 'This Is Your Way Out' will forever be one of my most favored EP's, but the new music is so bland. I can't even listen to most of it, it is as your said, repetitive, even Johnnys' vocals are. It is all the same, there is nothing fascinating over it, it sounds like they aren't even trying. But anyways, I still don't know what this song is about, and I am just fine having it that way. I don't understand the meaning of a good handful of DGD's songs, so I'm glad that they kept it that way even with Johnny leaving. |

Yeah, Matt has confirmed that this song is about Sonny Moore. It's quite a sad song once you figure out the song is about Sonny. FFTL feels regret, remorse, saddened for Sonny just leaving them.

So what I conclude is that the rest of FFTL never wanted Sonny to leave the band; but he did anyways. They didn't want the friendship to end, to just give up on everything that they accomplished together. But you cannot control free will. |

I have to disagree with you Tendos, well not only you, but everyone else above who seems to concur with the idea you threw out there. I'm not saying its wrong, I just disagree in it entirely. If you know Dance Gavin Dance, at all, then you should know they aren't the kind of people that are going to dwell on crap like what happened with Johnny, let alone dedicate an entire song to its misbehaving and bad treatment to the band. Think about it, why would they? You can say 'well whatever' but any true DGD fan knows this to be true. Anyways, Kurt has no association or discrepancies with Johnny, so why the hell would he sing about something concerning someone who has never even harmed him before? Just give it a thought. Johnny doesn't deserve the respect to have a song written about him. |

In a broad spectrum of the meaning for this song, I think it's blatantly clear, to me anyways, that this song deals with different factors of life. In this song we see similes and comparisons to love, work ie a job, money, our future, different ways of relieving stress, trying to overcome obstacles in life, inhumane thoughts, and trying to escape the 'prison' life we lead. I'm intrigued to hear what everyone else thinks of the meaning. |
