| I would add though, that it is not in the mind of the artist where meaning is created, but rather in the eyes and ears of the audience. This song carries great meaning with me (all very personal - not possible for Jackson to be referring to it), and, whether he meant for it or not, I take this song with me every day of my life. | |

I'm interested to hear that Jackson sees this song as comic relief. Doubly so, as I too feel that this song is one of the saddest he ever wrote. Where did he say that? |

I have been thinking about this too, and I think the previous meaning works really well. As with poetry it can mean so many different things. I like the idea of it referring to people calling out to each other across the street, making their speech sporadic between the traffic. The previous meaning given is more likely, but I like mine too. :) |
