i swear to god some of the stupidest people manage to not only get a computer working, but to give their dumb ass opinions to everyone else thats just as dumb as them. y dont all u stupid ppl stop typing and run for president. whether he lived under a bridge or not... the song has alot more to it besides the bridge. the song cant possibly be about the bridge because he says 1 line about it. im sure he didnt have an animals he trapped under the bridge while he slept there so lets assume this is a metaphor. and in my opinion, since the song is different from the other songs on the album, which was based on becoming mainstream, i think the song is about mainstream audiences. "the animals ive trapped all become my pets" meaning he tricked them into following him but now their his pets and follow voluntarily, i.e listen to his music."im living off of grass and drippings from the ceiling" the tarp broke while he was underneath the bridge which in my mind is him saying things suck for him. so hes living from grass which is the food of the animals he trapped. and hes profiting from writing about his suckish life (drippings from the ceiling). "its ok to eat fish cuz they dont have any feelings" fish being mainstream audience. its ok to take their money because they dont no that this music is BS. if u think this song is about a bridge... UR A FISH TOO! |

k BBkobe87 was real close but not 100% right. the cool has nothing to do with this song the first verse is comparing getting into a club to getting into heaven the second verse is comparing the electric chair to doing a show. the spotlight is supposed to represent the electricity going through the prisoner. "cuz even with all that most of us dont want it to fade" meaning even though theres so much pain involved we dont want to get rid of the death penalty. the 3rd verse is comparing being famouse to being a good parent. he goes to work to get treated like shit and then comes home to his kids and one is grown up but still loves the father. this is what lupe himself said |

ok i dont think you guys got it. if any of you followed lupe from before food and liquor you would know the streets is a fictional character lupe made up, along with the cool, and the game. the streets is on fire is about HIV. this is why its called on fire, the streets burns people (passes on the STD). the superstar video has all three characters in it. the streets is the girl with green dollar sign eyes. get ya metaphore game up : ) |
