Cyprezoid and Paranoiddroid have said it best so far... My take: This song is about that feeling when you want someone sooo bad it hurts, and man does this feeling convey in his voice and passion. He wants her, she wants him....however.... There are other factors involved which complicate their lives. The other factors are their spouses/families/house of cards. He is asking her to just 'fall off of the table and get swept under' meaning lets just be lovers, no matter how it begins and no matter how it ends. That is how bad he wants her... regardless of the consequences.... (this is that fleeting hope of the possibility that someday you could actually be with the person you truly get 'voltage spikes', butterflies, loose your breath around, etc, for that gets taken away from you in the song Nude, ... which brings you back to reality and back into your house of cards). She on the other had, has not given him an answer and is still in denial about her feelings... she comes home, puts her keys in the bowl, another day has ended, kisses her husband good night and needs to stay in denial to keep her house of cards standing.... it is too scary for her to fall off of the table and be with him, even though she desparately wants to, and may even go to bed with a tear in her eye. Maybe she has not even told him yet (or he may have not told her yet) how much she loves him but the feelings between them are palpable and do not need words. ... someday maybe they will be together... |
