Chris Thile – I Know You Know Lyrics 17 years ago
Lyrics:

You called me.
why do you call me?
Why do I answer,
When I know?

Oh I know.

You're crying.
Why are you crying?
And how can you say that,
When you know?

Oh you know.

That you were the sun, giving up behind the golden gate
Now you're the bum begging up and down the lower haight.

Oh you know.

That you were the band going out to play one more song
Now you're the giant out at second cause you thought he was gone.

I call her.
Why do I call her?
And why does she answer,
When she knows?

Oh she knows.

I was laughing.
Why am I laughing?
And how can I say that,
When I know?

Oh I know.

I was a fire-escape party over Union Square
Now I'm a cab driver *screwin over every fare.

Oh I know.

I was a young Dylan tossing out the perfect verse.
Now I'm another damn Yankee, 'can't toss it to first.

Woo Hoo Hoo
Lord, I can't toss it to first!
Woo Hoo Hoo
Lord I can't toss it to first!

Oh we know.

We were the band going out to play one more song.
Now we're the giant out at second 'cause we thought he was gone.

*explicit lyrics include: fucking

And I'm not even going to bother to correct the rest.

**The last verse is:
He's still a mess, so he hires a car
To take him to the fountain in Balboa Park
Where he used to play
When he was young
He's gonna wash off in front of God and everyone.

And, it's by the Punch Brothers, not just Chris Thile.

Nickel Creek – Toxic (Britney Spears cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
LOL. I don't think this song needs an explanation.

It prettymuch screams HORNY.

But I absolutely love the cover by Nickel Creek. I mean, they're so talented and amazing and... man.
If only Chris Thile were a little bit younger and hadn't got married/divorced.

Nickel Creek – House Carpenter Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this is trying to teach you a lesson (well, obviously).

Something along the lines of, "Don't leave your future for your past, no matter how enticing it is."

Because I view the story as a woman who married the house carpenter was in love with this other guy.. but somehow they got sperarated... and she had a kid with the house carpenter. The former love comes back and asks her to leave and pick up where they left, and she goes.. but leaving her baby, and resulting in death anyways. You can't just leave where you're at for where you were.

Or something like that.

Paramore – Fences Lyrics 17 years ago
This reminds me of a person, who feels they have to live up to this big image that everybody has of them, when really, they're so much more weaker and closer to imperfection than everyone thinks they are. They've created this lie of a life that's been nice and cozy, but now it's getting harder to live up to.

Paramore – When It Rains Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this is about someone who doesn't see what they're worth. They think no one loves them, they're depressed and just don't want to face up to the things they think they've done. So they do the unthinkable, suicide, self-infliction, etc.

"When It Rains" is probably a metaphor for when it gets tough or when you can't see the good thing. Especially after the line, "And when it rains, will you always find an escape?" Kind of like running away when you just need to face those tough things.

Paramore – Emergency Lyrics 17 years ago
I think that this is about Hayley's parents splitting up, or anyone's parents splitting up. About how the mother or father is trying to be there for their kid and love them, but it's just not real. The part about, "If you though I'd leave, then you were wrong, 'cause I won't stop holding on," makes me think that the child is strongly opposed to their parents breaking apart.

Paramore – My Heart (Live Whoa Version) Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about the band's faith in their religon, in God. The whole, "Sing us a song, and we'll sing it back to you, we could sing our own, but what would it be without you?" line is what triggered that.

Paramore – This Circle Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this is about someone who just won't face the problem, even though, like a circle, it's never solved. This person pretends like there is no problem and just won't accept that there's anything wrong with their life, relationship, whatever.
