US just ignored UN while deciding to attack first Afghanistan and then Iraq; what do you expect to do from an organization that, deprived of the force of its most powerful members (i'm talking about US), is almost powerless? UN, instead of starting wars, sends blue helmets, whose goal is to mantain peace and security. i think some confusion is made about liberalism, socialism and so on... liberalism is a way of thinking born in the 19th century which sets as the aim to look for the individual and his rights, especially freedom. according to this way of thinking the State exists in order to defend this freedom, and has to interfere the least possible to do this. it's clear that fascism and nazism are the opposite to this, 'cause individual exists only as a "cell" of the nation... in addition to this, i think that patriotism is something that really doesn't fit with the world we live in: yes, in the past whole nations fought eachother so you had to "support" your side to win... but it's time to think to the future of the whole mankind, instead of being "patriot". and i can't believe being patriot is reduced to loosing freedom to help your government protect you... |
