| Placebo – A Million Little Pieces Lyrics | 10 months ago |
|
There wasn't much I used to need A smile would blow a summer breeze through my heart Now my mistakes are haunting me Like winter came and put a freeze on my heart I've lost the power to understand What it takes to be a man with my heart I saw you wanted this to end You tried your best to be a friend to my heart But I'm leaving this worry town Please no grieving, my love, understand? Whenever I was feeling wrong I used to go and write a song from my heart But now I feel I've lost my spark No more glowing in the dark for my heart So I'm leaving this worry town Please no grieving, my love, understand? Understand? Understand? Understand? Understand? Understand? (Can't you see I'm sick of fighting?) Understand? (Can't you tell I've lost my way?) Understand? (Look at me theirs no denying) Understand? (I wont last another day) So I'm leaving this worry town Please no grieving, my love, understand? Then I'm leaving this worry town Please no grieving, my love, understand? All my dreaming torn in pieces All my dreaming torn in pieces All my dreaming torn in pieces All my dreaming torn in pieces now |

On this day, 30th August 2023 i would discover this great track 'The Hunchback of San Francisco' all thanks to the radio station here in the UK - Radio Caroline ^_^ Once i had the title of the song, the next logical step was to enter 'The Hunchback of San Francisco' into YouTube and discover a fitting music video - the loader added the track 'Genevieve' prior to 'The Hunchback of San Francisco'. What a great day, 2 new tracks i would discover ^_^ |

Frances Farmer was in fact a native of Seattle. As for all the other report facts on the actress, those have already been mentioned here. The Nirvana song has always been a fav of mind. |

| Placebo – A Million Little Pieces Lyrics | 2 years ago |
| The overall vibe I get hearing the song and watching the video, is one of the past being better than the present. In the past it did not require much to feel good, unlike now in the present, the protagonist cannot find what is required to feel good like they once did. I sense depression. Someone growing older and focusing on the past. Maybe they are at a crossroads in their life, and somewhat lost. Is the town an actual physical place they wish to escape, or is the worry town a place in the protagonists mind? | |
| Audioslave – Like a Stone Lyrics | 3 years ago |
| @[Crimsoncla:45054] The song is about an old man waiting to die.. | |
| Audioslave – Like a Stone Lyrics | 3 years ago |
| Chris Cornell, who wrote the lyric, "Like A Stone" is about death, and finding the afterlife through means other than the traditional monotheistic way of thinking. "It's a guy sitting in a hotel room contemplating death," he said in an interview. "Where you go, what it means, and all the different possibilities. And then coming up with an image he likes, going with the philosophy of, maybe when you die, if you've been good enough in your life, you get to go somewhere you remember that's really cool." If you thought this was a love song, take comfort in knowing that Audioslave bass player Tim Commerford did too, figuring the guy in the song was waiting for his true love. But when he asked, Chris Cornell told him the song is about an old man waiting for death. He sits in a house alone after all his friends and family have passed on before him, waiting to be reunited with them. "I got saddened about what he's singing about," Commerford said. "I'm picturing this man in a rocking chair waiting to die." | |
| Depeche Mode – Walking In My Shoes Lyrics | 3 years ago |
|
Quite possibly the best song Depeche Mode ever made. The title of the song pretty say's it all. Choices one takes. The path one chooses. The message seems to point to someone who took a difficult path, a path that is tougher than many could manage. |

|
Classic track.. Many moons ago, me and a friend would travel by train into London, and visit Portobello Road, usually on a Saturday. This was pre_internet days. I loved picked bootleg cassettes of live shows. Down the road from there were some flats (houses) and i took some photo's of some interesting graffiti. Turn's out, the same graffiti features in the music video to Beat Dis :D ..i can say i have seen it in person. I wonder what is there now in 2022 ? |

..why no comments? One of my fav tracks from Bomb The Bass Winter In July.. what does it mean? Here in the UK July represents the beginning of summer. I guess for some, it still feels like Winter, given life's predicaments, I guess that is the song meaning ^_^ |

| Faith No More – Stripsearch Lyrics | 3 years ago |
| The music video appears to show someone (played by Mike Patton) making a journey to an airport while carrying a bag. Standing in line at Passport check-in they monitor their surroundings, noting someone having their luggage checked, which is filled with normal travel items including tooth-brush, shower-gel etc. While the other travelers look grey, bored, Mike looks wired. Last in line, Mike hands over his Passport, which results in the guards being alerted. Mike makes a dash for it, fails, and is handcuffed. By the looks of things, Mike is a drug mule. | |
| Depeche Mode – It's No Good Lyrics | 3 years ago |
| Based on the music video, i have some additional views to add.\nThe song is without doubt the sum of his thoughts. They may well be aimed towards the female working at the cafe. Just maybe, all the while he has these thoughts, he knows she will never know, as making a move is beyond his skills, maybe because of shyness? ..as we see, the she working at the cafe leaves with someone else. | |
| Danzig – Cantspeak Lyrics | 4 years ago |
| The hypnotic rotating sound that drones through the entire song represents the noise in the protagonists mind. That same sound represents the feeling of hopelessness at the hands of those above (leaders) as the music video shows the viewer. This is the song that got me into Danzig. I first heard it and watching the video back in the day on Headbangers Ball. They did a small interview with Glenn, and he mentions the drone/beat that i referred to in the beginning. | |

99% of the comments here should be deleted. Few if any relate to Song Meaning. The lyrics: It don't really matter Gonna find out for yourself No it don't really matter Gonna leave this thing to Somebody else If they were missionaries Real time visionaries Sitting in a Chinese stew To view my dis-infatuation I know that I'm a classic case Watch my dis-enchanted face Blame it on the Falun Gong They've seen the end and you can't hold on now 'Cause it would take a lot more hate than you To end the fascination Even with an iron fist More than you got to rule the nation When all I got is precious time It don't really matter Guess I'll keep it to myself Said it don't really matter It's time I look around for Somebody else 'Cause it would take a lot more time than you Have got for masturbation Even with your iron fist More than you got to rule the nation When all we got is precious time More than you got to fool the nation When all I got is precious time It don't really matter I guess you'll find out for yourself No it don't really matter So you can hear it now from Somebody else You think you got it all locked up inside And if you beat them enough they'll die It's like a walk in a park from the cell Now you're keeping your own kind in hell When your Great Wall rocks blame yourself When their arms reach out for your help And you're out of time |

| Dire Straits – Your Latest Trick Lyrics | 5 years ago |
|
Bizarre as it might sound, i have listened to this song many times over the years, loving the sound, but never really hearing the lyrics, other than the odd word here and there. Some interesting views posted here. For me, especially now knowing the lyrics, the song paints the vision of a night city scene and a bar. On the subject of these two lines: But it was only my heart got broken You must have had a passkey made out of wax There is no physical key, as some have suggested. Wax is soft. That is how easy she gained access to his heart. |

| Nirvana – Scentless Apprentice Lyrics | 5 years ago |
|
I once watched a movie called Perfume. It's a well made movie. It's about a guy who wants to create the ultimate perfume. His choice of smell is fine smelling women. Today i stumbled across a video on YouTube - One of Cobains final interviews. In the interview he mentions a book he carries around and has read numerous times. The title of the book - Perfume. Kurt mentions it inspired the lyrics for Scentless Apprentice In Utero was released in 1991 (29 years ago). The album, the song i love, but had no idea about the Perfume connection until today. Neither can i comment on how the movie compares to the book? the sound was enough to make me like the song, and that's what counts :D Thinking back to the interview. Kurt mentions being interested from a young age in anatomy. He owned one of those clear plastic toys where it was possible to see inside the human body. The album cover for In Utero happens to feature the same sort of concept. |

| Slipknot – Wait And Bleed Lyrics | 6 years ago |
|
Back in the day, this was the 1st track from the band that caught my attention.. Call me naive - i painted a picture of some crazed dude, with red and gold eyes, hair spiked, an animal, filled with hate, alive - viewing one's self trapped in a body (shell) living until the day they die, a situation all living things find themselves in, through no fault of their own. 'Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves' - the place all humans end, 6ft under. This is possibly the source of hate - having to live, do, only die at the end :( |

| Guns N' Roses – I.R.S. Lyrics | 6 years ago |
|
I tend to view IRS with the levels of extremes associated with the likes of Tom & Jerry. On one level it's a cartoon, at another level, it's super violent. 'Gonna call..' 'Gonna get..' 'Gonna need..' It comes across like someone wanting to deal with something, someone, and throw at it all that is available, all that is legally available, all the while dealing with the frustration's of being held back from breaking the rules (laws). If there was no law, they'd use a gun! - this individual has more intelligence than to resort to violence, thus pulls in all other options, even the President (not that that would be possible ;D ) |

| Marilyn Manson – I Want to Kill You Like They Do in the Movies Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| Good song. Without giving it too much thought, and probably being a long way off correct, i got vibes of a movie maker going though intense anguish to the point where all they care for is what is captured to film. The actress pretends (acts) and the director pretends (does what ever is required to get the desired results). If the actress fails, there's a line of others only too happy to take the place of another. | |
| Pet Shop Boys – Two Divided By Zero Lyrics | 6 years ago |
|
Sounds like a fantasy of wanting to get away, as far a way, as there's issue's or an issue at home. From a sound perspective, it's a great track! I sometimes wish PSB would return to their roots, and include more urban sounds, like they with with West End Girls (street sounds), Suburbia (dog sounds) to name a few. |

| Blind Melon – Soak the Sin Lyrics | 6 years ago |
|
The lyrics appear to be for the song - I Wonder The correct lyrics for Soak the Sin are as follows: I've got to buy some shoes These ones are getting lose My feet are shrinking in the Sun, and it ain't fun But it looks like rain up ahead In forty miles. A big rainbow took the blue sky. I'm gonna tell my momma, I love Her so and thank you for Giving me these bones o gold I'm gonna run from my home Jump in the river and let the Water soak the sin in my soul. Fine time we all crossed lines make the music that makes us Feel fine Rednecks on sun decks hearing a Hillside Romeo say "Boys this is the Good shit, so come on all and eat A little bit." And if I ever go back home I'm Gonna sell And tell… |

| Elton John – Rocket Man Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
Beautiful song. I'm in agreement with others here, the song is about detachment, being way 'She packed my bags last night pre-flight - Zero hour nine AM'. Big job, little job, we all feel the same being away from home, working, doing whatever. Those that look for deeper meaning make me die with laughter. Not every song is about drugs. |

| Pet Shop Boys – Rent Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
One of my favourite Pet Shop Boys songs. Even if the meaning is not known 100%, the song sounds great, which is what counts above all else. Reading other comments here, is always interesting. Without wishing to sound condescending, my take on the lyrics include: Someone who is possibly famous, who isn’t short of a penny, who pays someone else to be with. This someone dresses the other person (puppet) as they see fit, buys them things to impress, takes them to restaurants, and they share a bed (when you're lying next to me) probably have sex. The other person, presumably has hopes and dreams (look at my hopes, look at my dreams) but is caught up with someone who is denying them ever achieving anything beyond their current existence, because life is too easy (i never want anything, it's easy). You took me to a restaurant off Broadway To tell me who you are Whoever this someone is, has to tell the other who they are. To me this could imply an age gap. Possibly an older actor, singer, who the younger other has no idea of their fame. It sounds like a sad sad situation. I love you, you pay my rent This is the punch line. There is no true love. The someone is paying for love / friendship. The moment the money stops, is the moment the other finds a new someone. |

| Danzig – Cantspeak Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
Correct, incorrect, my take on the song: Can’t Speak appears to be about someone who is in a hopeless situation, with thoughts of suicide as their only way out, not that they really want to die. The individual in question describes their situation as zombie like, the living dead. Existing in a world made hopeless by those in charge. The music video for the song shows world leaders. I’m not sure if the song is war related or simply one’s woes of having to live in the modern world. Can’t Speak was the first Danzig song I heard (on Headbangers Ball incidentally) and straight away I knew something good was going on. |

| Morrissey – You Have Killed Me Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
Good song. I like it simply for how it sounds. As for meaning, who knows? Pasolini is me Morrissey must view himself to be similar / the same as Pasolini, who was a poet, journalist, philosopher, novelist, playwright, filmmaker, newspaper and magazine columnist, actor, painter and political figure. He was also Gay. 'Accattone' you'll be Accattone - Italian drama film written and directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini. Vittorio "Accattone" Cataldi is a pimp for his long-time girlfriend. From these two lines, Morrissey plays the part of Pasolini, and his partner plays the part of Accattone. I entered nothing and nothing entered me Morrissey entered nothing, and nothing entered Morrissey. Is this mental or physical? 'Til you came with the key And you did your best but The person playing the part of Accattone (a pimp) attempted to enter Morrissey with a key. Key could mean words (mental) or object (physical). It all sounds a bit sexual. |

The first track from Years of Refusal to grab me. I take the lyrics at face value, about wanting someone and never getting, resulting in black cloud - literally floating above one’s self. |

| Amy Winehouse – Back To Black Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I’m not an all out obsessed Amy fan, but I do like this track, and never really focused on deep meaning or heard the lyrics 100% correctly. Song’s can mean different things to different listeners.. ‘You love blow, and I love puff’ I took this line at face value, two different drugs, as simple as.. Here’s one lyric I heard wrong: ‘And life is like a pie’ ‘And I'm a tiny penny rolling up the walls inside’ I had a vision, a huge pie, and a penny rolling inside up and the pastry walls, thus the pie is empty. Hehe.. As to the ‘Back to Black’ reference. I simply took this as retreating mentally to a dark place, as the result of something to do with a partner. Having watched the music video, it takes place at funeral? |

| Nine Inch Nails – We're in This Together Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I like the song.. the sound that is.. We’re In This Together.. Is that we, as in two people, are we, as in me and everyone else ? Does the music video how explain the song ? It appears to show Trent running, running from what ? ..running with lots of other males dressed in black. The end up in a wasteland where only Trent survives. During the video, a single female appears. Maybe the song is about a relationship. Two people, together, in this (life) together, until the end, no matter what. That’s the view I go with. Although I don’t get the video ? |
