I have my own idea about this song. The woman is perfect, and he worships her, but she turns nasty and becomes manipulative, yet he tries to turn a blind eye to it, stick his head in the sand. "Didn't want to know it all, didn't wanna know at all, and I don't wanna know it now." But in spite of accepting this, he still loves her, be it because he feels he can do no better, or it's true love. Nonetheless, he pines over her. "I would do anything for you, there was a time!" It's an amazing song, meaning aside. The solo is incredible, and Axl's wailing near the end almost makes me want to cry. (In a good way.)

It's a song about someone ruining your life, treating you like "a worthless piece of shit", and rather than let that mold you into the same asshole who ruined you, you destroy him. I ended up writing a short story based on this... But the irony is that the main character DOES become the thing he hates. I like irony.
