I always get this stuck in my head while I'm in public places. Most of the time I can keep my mouth shut, but it's so damn persistent that sometimes I just have to walk down the street singing, "So many Little boys I want to marry I'll see plenty Little kids I'll get to have now" Luckily most people don't pay attention enough to catch on. |

this is such a nice song. not the best if you're into witty, modern music. but this is so nice to study to, to daydream to. especially to daydream to while studying, haha. so many pleasant images. reading the lyrics almost ruins it, actually. the sounds and images is where it's at. i love getting lost in this monsterously long song and forgetting where i'm at and hearing something like 'we'll gather lichen from the boulders' or 'vein braider, thousand pronged antler'. trying to keep up in the lyrics, i feel, ruins that effect. if you haven't, i suggest listening to this when you're feeling sleepy, with your eyes closed, or at least half-closed. oh Mariee Sioux why have i only just recently discovered your music? |

this song is really wonderful. i love how... mature... they are sometimes. 'you have your fits i have my fits but, feeling is good' like who cares if we're fighting or happy or what at least we're alive. |

the format and some of the words in these lyrics seem off compared to what i hear, but i can't quite place it, so i'm no one to correct. (little things like instead of 'that made you sweat' i don't hear the 'that' and somehow that makes a difference? and then after the trouble coming down... ect, i hear 'upon us' maybe it's just the version i have?) anyway, this song has gained quite some meaning for me. it reminds me of someone important who has had aweful dreams, and i just want to comfort them. it makes me think of having a little farmhouse in the woods (like the one in 'the good life'), and waking with them to golden mornings... with cats and all.. too literal, i know, but it's such beautiful imagery by itself, and an one that really calls to me.. so consequently this is one of my favorite songs. when i hear it my heart swells, and when i'm not hearing it, i'm often singing/humming it. |

oddly enough, the most touching thing in this song to me is the whistling at the end. i go through periods of listening and not listening to bands, and for a long time i hadn't been listening to the Unicorns.... well, whenever i stop thinking i usually start singing/humming/whistling, and that little tune comes up all the time. it was driving me crazy because i didn't know where it was from and then i listened to this song and uhn. dunno. it's something magic :/ |
