| Oasis – Don't Look Back in Anger Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song seems to have been inspired by a few different things...It's clearly heavily influenced by Lennon as is apparent in the Lyric "start a revolution from my bed" and the opening piano chords reminiscent of Imagine. I've heard stories of him posing for pictures by the fireplace as a youth (though who knows whether that's utterly made up) There's an easy connection about the difficulties associated with Love and touring in a band. When I heard this song last, I poured some of myself into it...I found that the scars of past relationships affect very strongly the course of current ones, unless you can let go of the anger and hurt associated with them. |

| Billy Bragg – Help Save The Youth Of America Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| As an American I think that at the moment we have a problem with fighting for democracy in foreign lands...and allowing it to fall by the wayside here at home...IMHO | |
| Billy Bragg – Accident Waiting To Happen Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Goodjohn I think you nailed it...I've always liked this song, but looking at it on paper (well monitor) and hearing your take I see it in a new light. | |
| Billy Bragg – To Have And To Have Not Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Being a Big Op Ivy, Rancid and Lars Fredriksen fan I have to admit, it's a much poorer version of the song. Their hearts are in the right place, but Billy lived it, breathed it, and sang it. Lars only covered it, and there's no trophy for second place this time. |

| Billy Bragg – The Milkman of Human Kindness Lyrics | 17 years ago |

^tool In his ever so clever way ol' Bignose has turned common language into a beautiful lyric. Milk of human kindness is a phrase that indicates compassion. Billy Is talking here about being particularly kind to someone when they're having a hard time. |

| Billy Bragg and Wilco – Ingrid Bergman Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song was written by Woody Guthrie. Woody was absolutely enamored with Ingrid Bergman. I heard Billy speak about the song once; and he'd referred to a few of the double entendres in the song. "Ingrid Bergman You're so perty" more than just a vernacular fashion of saying she's pretty refers to the fact that she had pert breasts. He speculated that "you'd make any mountain quiver", "you'd make fire fly from it's crater" and the whole of the third verse may have been metaphors for Woody's "tumescence" was how he put it. Really sweet song |

| Bad Manners – You Fat Bastard! Lyrics | 17 years ago |

To me this is a poignant expression of the derision experienced by people who fight an ongoing battle with obesity. Plus it's great to shake your ass to. |
