| Counting Crows – Four White Stallions (Tender Mercies cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| four white stallions is a meta. referring to the old childrens rhyme, she'll be coming around the mountain. its about a woman this guy sees once a yr. and when he is with her, he is happy, in this sense, it is someone adam only sees once in awhile, and being that he is always on the road, he is always leaving. this time, he left still wanting her, rather than staying around longer until he realized that there was nothing other than physical attraction for them, even though she was beautiful, and smart, and funny, he just cant be there. this way, its better to remember and want something beautiful, rather than ruin it and the illusion. thats why he cant go back there. he is afraid he will ruin the memory of how wonderful it all was. the four reasons are the four seasons, those are his good reasons, he cant go back for a yr, even if he wanted to. thats why it would never work | |

he is sick, and cant even go outside anymore. he is screaming in fear, or screaming at god. he had been having a wonderful, happy dream, where he was a child, or a lover, all he cared was that in the dream he was going. didnt know where, didnt care where, as long as it was out, or away and then he woke up and realized it wasnt real, and now just wants to be alone and go back to sleep to find his angels |

he is in love, and she was the flame in his life. and time and again, he sets himself on fire, and walks out on the wire. means taking a chance, so even though love hasnt been too good to him, like the tightrope walker, he sets himself onfire again and again, and if she wraps herself in daffodils, is symbolic for someone dying. be it that she is as good as dead to him, or he hurts like she had died, or if it was how he felt, no one may really ever know. most poetry has dual meanings. he may have written all of his songs to tell his own story, with dual sympolism to mean broader things to appeal to the masses. that is a mark of a true artist and poet. ever listen to dylans lyrics.... |

| Counting Crows – Raining In Baltimore Lyrics | 17 years ago |

alot of good takes there. i think that 50 miles isnt that far, so for those of you who said it was because she was in baltimore, too far for him to get to, that cant be correct. i agree that she was supposed to be there. i believe its about a guy who came home after a long absence, and found everything had changed, that he was no longer a part of it. anyone who has been away for a long time knows this feeling. old friends are either gone, or you dont have anything in common with them. he is still with her, she just couldnt be there, perhaps in baltimore where they both came from. and rain is symbolism for sadness and despair, hence, raincoat, is just plainly protection from the storm, or protection from the depression and lonlyness that he finds, sitting in the rain, alone in a hotel room, wishing he was someplace else... |
