"Inheriting the Earth" is talking about new generations, I believe. At first, they tend to hurry things up, but then get "rolled over" in the long run. In the end, they succeed, and the new generation takes over, going through the same things. "Slow degrees on the dark horizon Full moon rising lays silver at your feet" I never knew what that meant, but it's definitely my favorite pair of lines in this song. |

"the heavy zeppelin like influence on this song." I noticed that also. It's like Jimmy Page grabbed Alex's guitar and took over. I love this song though. It's probably my favorite of the first album. |

| The first time I heard this song I laughed my ass off. The way Geddy sings those first two lines was just too much. | |

"There's no bread, let them eat cake." I love that line... even though Marie Antoinette never actually said it. Yes, it's a myth. :( |

Lotus-land is the belief that you were born to a certain lifestyle. Kind of like on a Manor; if you were born a peasant, you will stay a peasant for your whole life. What Neil is saying is that you don't have to be what you're born into. Basically he says that at one point in your life, you must choose whether to believe in what people tell you. I always thought it would be a religion you were born into that your parents told you to believe in. Neil isn't atheist by the way, he's agnostic. |
