So many amazing interpretations... & I agree with a lot of them 100%! Lol. Thats the beauty of song & lyric... It can mean so many different things to different people & no one person is right & all the others wrong, the way you interpret a song can tell you a great deal about yourself, & reading other peoples interpretations tells you a lot about them ;)

Hey guys i cant seem to find the correct lyrics anywhere... Its "Instead of holding up the wall, why dont you open up, we'll talk"... People say something like "what are you doing? holding up the wall?" when someone is like just standing there leaning against the wall all night, like a wall-flower or whatever. |

you know i went over the last few lyrics again and i think what happened was the girls blindness was cured... and she no longer wanted him... it was their problems that brought them together.. her blindness and his temper, and now that she is cured... she left him the same night.. sounds like something that would really happen. |

HAHAHA!! ^ thats fucking awesome.. a friend of mine has a cat like that...
The only part i dont get is the very end about the blind girl... i understand that the reason he is pissed off and wants to break shit is because he fell in love with a girl who he had alot in common with and she left him.. but i dont understand exactly what happened or why she did?
I think the numerous parts in the song about wanting to beat and smash everything but what belongs to him means he wants to destroy everything but her.. the girl.. i think all of us guys have been in that position at one time or another. |

Its not about a child being born of rape (but it is obviously about rape)... and its not about a kid and his g/f going to far.. in the first part, the little child she's talking about is the rapist when he was a child... i think its about a person who was un-loved, ignored, mistreated and probably abused as a child and ends up growing up to be a rapist.. i believe the part at the end is comparing his rape victims to glow flies in the bath tub bathed in kerosene (something he did as a child) as a kid it was glow flies... now its human girls.
thats the way it happens.
... my 2 cents. |

...and music, the combination of the lyrics and the music bring the listeners mood very close to this feeling... about as close as you can get without actually being in that situation. beautiful. |

Most all Chemical Brothers songs have more than one meaning or ways of being interpreted... most have undertones of drug use/addiction and questioning of religious beliefs... this is the reason i consider the bros to be lyrical as well as musical geniuses.
The first time you hear a Chem Bros song like this, all you hear at first is a song about tripping on drugs.. but when you dig deeper you discover so so much more..
The story of this song reminds me alot of the story of "The Golden Path" they are both about either a glimpse into the afterlife (most likely drug induced) or actually dying and going on to the afterlife, and both have a little something at the end about entering into a heaven type of place where all of life's questions are finally answered... an end to the journey of life... a good end... a place where he is "home" and "free".
I also feel that in both songs you can tell that he is confident that he has led a good life but is still a little worried and unsure if he will be accepted into this place. |
