I'm pretty sure it's "We watched the season pull up its own station, catch the last weekend of the last week". I absolutely adore this song... |

| The Hoosiers – Everything Goes Dark Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think instead of getting light, it should be guiding lights... but that's just me. It probably is about death. | |
| Athlete – Wires Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Yes... now the baby thing makes a lot of sense... I didn't know all the lyrics before, and when I heard wires, it made me think of a robotic person. They're moving around in this world, but they don't really feel real, just doing the same routine over and over again. And then the suicidal part would come in, with the dry blood on the wrist. But I got it completely wrong hehehe I love the anguish where he sings that he has to get to his daughter. Powerful and moving song. | |
| Stars – International Rock Star Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The last line the girl says should be "Think it over." I've always liked this song... because of the dark theme. What I've always thought was it was about a guy who had a large obsession with a girl, who is somewhat famous. That's because I take things a bit too literally... after reading what people have said on here, my view has changed somewhat... There can be other interpretations. Generally, yeah, you can be rich and famous, but without love, are you really worth anything? | |
| Stars – The Very Thing Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song is one of my all-time favourites of Stars. I love the story it depicts... even if it is a bit sad. The beginning definitely shows that he's not happy with his current situation... He does love his kid, because he 'cast a light in front of him', but maybe he just can't find a way to connect with the child... He couldn't make him see. And the situation with the wife... it does sound like they got together because of a surprise pregnancy. But in the end, she is the only one who will love him... Some feelings still remain because they've spent so much time together. | |
| Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – Wait Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I love singing along to this... there's hardly any song that I don't like singing to in the Sweeney Todd soundtrack though :) I like how she soothes him here... And it's also interesting that Sweeney actually listens to her. He does wait until a good moment to slit the judge's throat... but in the process was delayed by Antony... but oh well~ | |
| Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – My Friends Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I like it when Mrs. Lovett breathes Sweeney in from behind him. I also like it too when she sings, "I'm your friend too..." It's a beautiful song. | |
| Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – Johanna Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| xD to ohitstraqukX's comment. It is indeed a very nice name when sung in this song~ This is definitely my favourite... because there are different perspectives, like BuglyMuckling said. I love that we see Sweeney's feelings for his daughter... It is sad that he decides not to get to know her at all... But at least he knows that Antony is someone who will care for her. | |
| Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – Epiphany Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I love it when Sweeney is angry. Oh the poor man... if only Mrs. Lovett told him the truth :( | |
| Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – A Little Priest Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I notice this version is longer, so it must've been from the stage musical... I'll post the soundtrack version: "A Little Priest" MRS. LOVETT: (spoken) That's all very well, but what're we gonna do about him? TODD: (spoken) Later on, when it's dark. We'll take it to some secret place and bury it. MRS. LOVETT: (spoken) Oh yeah, 'course we could do that. Don't suppose he's got any relatives that are gonna go poking around looking for him... (sung) Seems a downright shame... TODD: (spoken) Shame? MRS. LOVETT: Seems an awful waste... Such a nice, plump frame Wot's 'is name has... Had... Has! Nor it can't be traced... Business needs a lift Debts to be erased... Think of it as thrift As a gift If you get my drift... Seems an awful waste... I mean, with the price of meat What it is When you get it If you get it... TODD: (spoken) Ah! MRS. LOVETT: Good, you got it! Take, for instance, Mrs. Mooney and her pie shop! Business never better using only pussycats and toast Now a puss is good for maybe six or seven at the most! And I'm sure they can't compare as far as taste! TODD: Mrs. Lovett, what a charming notion MRS. LOVETT: Well, it does seem a waste... TODD: Eminently practical And yet appropriate as always! Mrs. Lovett, how I've lived Without you all these years, I'll never know! How delectable! Also undetectable! LOVETT: Think about it! Lots of other gentlemen'll Soon be comin' for a shave, Won't they? Think of All them Pies! TODD: How choice! How rare! Oh what's the sound of the world out there? MRS. LOVETT: What, Mr. Todd? What, Mr. Todd? What is that sound? TODD: Those crunching noises pervading the air! MRS. LOVETT: Yes, Mr. Todd! Yes, Mr. Todd! Yes, all around! TODD: It's man devouring man, my dear! BOTH: And [LOVETT: Then] who are we to deny it in here? TODD: (spoken) These are desperate times, Mrs. Lovett, and desperate measures are called for MRS. LOVETT: (spoken) Here we are. Hot out of the oven! TODD: (spoken) What is that? MRS. LOVETT: It's priest. Have a little priest TODD: Is it really good? MRS. LOVETT: Sir, it's too good, at least! Then again, they don't come in sins of the flesh, So it's pretty fresh. TODD: Awful lot of fat. LOVETT: Only where it sat. TODD: Haven't you got poet, or something like that? MRS. LOVETT: No, y'see, the trouble with poet is How do you know it's deceased? Try the priest! Lawyer's rather nice. TODD: If it's for a price. MRS. LOVETT: Order something else, though, to follow, Since no one should swallow it twice! TODD: Anything that's lean? MRS. LOVETT: Well, then, if you're British and loyal, You might enjoy Royal Marine! Anyway, it's clean Though of course, it tastes of wherever it's been! TODD: Is that squire, On the fire? MRS. LOVETT: Mercy no, sir, look closer, You'll notice it's grocer! TODD: Looks thicker, More like vicar! MRS. LOVETT: No, it has to be grocer -- It's green! TODD: The history of the world, my love -- MRS. LOVETT: Save a lot of graves, Do a lot of relatives favors! TODD: Is those below serving those up above! MRS. LOVETT: Ev'rybody shaves, So there should be plenty of flavors! TODD: How gratifying for once to know TOGETHER: That those above will serve those down below! TODD: (spoken) What is that? MRS. LOVETT: It's fop. Finest in the shop Or we have some shepherd's pie peppered with actual sheperd on top And I've just begun Here's the politician so oily, it's served with a doily Have one! TODD: Put it on a bun Well, you never know if it's going to run! MRS. LOVETT: Try the friar! Fried is drier! TODD: No! The clergy is really too coarse and too mearly MRS. LOVETT: Then actor? It's compacter TODD: Ah, but always arrives overdone! (spoken) I'll come again when you have judge on the menu! (sung) Have charity towards the world, my pet MRS. LOVETT: Yes, yes, I know, my love TODD: We'll take the customers take we can get MRS. LOVETT: High-born and low, my love TODD: We'll not discriminate great from small No! We'll serve anyone, meaning anyone TOGETHER: And to anyone At all!!! Love singing along to this as well~!! |

| Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – By the Sea Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is one of my favourites in the soundtrack. Love singing along to it :) I agree with Imahollowplay, this really does show how much she wants to be with Todd. But you can see in the movie, this is mostly a one-way obsession. Todd is too wrapped up in his hatred and thirst for revenge to think about starting a new relationship with Mrs. Lovett. Though there was that one time where he looked at her deeply, even if it was just a moment, maybe he could've learned to love her in return. But things didn't go like she'd planned... | |
| Autolux – Turnstile Blues Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Absolutely adore this song... I was never too sure what it meant. detourhead's comment makes sense though. | |
| People In Planes – Token Trapped Woman Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think I'll have to churn over what this song means. But my first impression was there is some form of abuse going on - "You are trapped, don't waste your energy" and even more obviously, "Why should you beg forgiveness, from us - for the pleasure you give us". And I can't get my head around "You said that night that we might run away....etc" ... It's probably a relationship gone wrong. Where the girl wronged the guy somehow... I really like this song, just not too sure what it means | |
| Clare Bowditch and the Feeding Set – Between the Tea and the Toast Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I like how it's melodic and sad... a relationship that's falling apart... the girl has wandered away... I guess she's tired of the relationship. Either she needs some time to think it through, the whole 'taking some time off is healthy' kind of thing. Or she doesn't want to do it anymore. | |
