I agree with everything that's been said here...but as a minor observation I think the "Dude sipping from his endless coffee cup" character is his father. The spewing quotes and rambling thing seem like fatherly actions to me. |

What a fucking amazing song.
The self induced pain concept is obvious here...but I think the reason for doing it may be a religious one, it's hinted at a few times, such as in "Scornful gods haggle for my soul". |

This song is insane. From what I've heard this is a concept album so this probably fits in with the concept, probably the character thinking about his past, as this song revisits themes presented earlier in the album.
This is my favorite song by this band. |
