I also agree with softsweetnoise. She is asking God why many people are unhappy. The answer, from what i've seen, is that it is due to our culture. It is desensitizing and constantly lies to you about what true happiness is. From tv and movies to the pressures put on by society such as the absurdity of high school drama, this is not how God intended us to live. Priscilla Ahn is tapping into this idea. You will not be at peace if you confirm to what society wants you to be. It will take away your dreams and your innocence. Your heart will harden and you will lose sight of dreams. Pray to God that you do not fall into this trap and you will find peace. Deny the world and you will find true life. Her voice is beautiful. Very soothing and pure. |

From listening to this song and reading the lyrics i believe its about a man who has just married a girl named Maria 'You in your life, me in mine We have begun' and is now beginning his new life with her. Through falling in love with Maria he has gained a peace and learned that he has a good heart. They are now ready to begin their life together Another meaning of the song could be explained through the title 'Our Lady of the Well' It could very well be that Jackson Browne is describing the presence of the Holy Mother coming into his life. Mary or Maria has awoken his consiousness and now he is going to live his life like he should. And it has taken me this distance And a woman's smile to learn That my heart remains among them And to them I must return Further proof that it is religious is that if you listen to the next song on the album, "colors of the sun" he refers to seeing "Joseph and Maria", the parents of Jesus. |

I just went running the other week through my neighborhood with this song on my ipod... all i can say is wow, it was powerful. I live in Wisconsin and right now we have snowbanks taller than me and as I was running, listening to this song I saw the following: -No people outside- maybe like 2 people with snowblowers throughout my whole run -A T.V. on inside someones house, but i saw no people -A full moon Overall it just gave me an "awesomely creepy" feeling, it was just great. i can't wait to hear the new electric president cd. |
