Demi Lovato – Catch Me Lyrics 15 years ago
This song means so much to me. She's been hurt numerous times in the past, and everyone she has ever known has left her or let her down in some way. It's obvious that she's incredibly reluctant to open up her heart to anyone anymore, and she finds it incredibly difficult to trust people. But then this guy comes along, and he's absolutely perfect for her in everyway - she cares for him like crazy, gets the most insane butterflies whenever his name even pops up in a conversation. But because of her previous encounters with people, she is terrified of opening herself up to him. Although he makes her happy, she is terrified of being hurt or let down again, because that's all she's ever known. Throughout the entire song, she is battling with herself: every hello ends with a goodbye, she's terrified of what he could do to her. And if he broke her, it will be the worst hurt she'll ever experience, because she cares about him so much. But she keeps going back to how he makes her feel: he has her laughing while she sings and smiling in her sleep. And eventually she realizes that this is different from everyone else, that she is in LOVE with this boy. And even though she's still terribly scared, she's risking it- she's falling, and she's asking him to catch her, take care of her, and don't hurt her. Because it's love, and love is about taking risks.

This song means everything in the world to me. It's everything I've ever felt in my life wrapped up in one song, except for one thing: I'm still waiting for someone to catch me. And when I find him, I'll play this song for him, to hopefully explain to him why he means so much to me. This is oneof my favorite songs, ever.

And to that person above: this song was written for Alex deleon of the band the cab, who Demi dated in 2008, so it definitely wasn't written before she was famous.

Nick Jonas & The Administration – Olive & An Arrow Lyrics 16 years ago
definitely my favorite off the album. it's about a girl that he absolutely loves, and who will be nice to him one second and then hurt him the next. I think it might be because she's too afraid to stay "chained down" to anyone - hence, her wanting to be an eagle and the fact that "she doesn't like to worry but she's afraid of everything that's going on around her." So she'll flirt with guys but won't get with any of them ("I'm just another photo that made its way on her page"). And he really loves her, but he doesn't want her to know because she'll just hurt him even more knowing that.

Demi Lovato – Everything You're Not Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is about a guy who continuously led her on ('I used to sing to your twisted symphony, the words that had me sound like stolen poetry). however, he was hurting her and hurting her and eventually she decides that he's not worth all the heartbreak. she wants someone who will respect her and who won't hurt her like he has; basically, she wants someone who is everything that the guy wasn't for her.

I can really relate to this song, so it's one of my favorites from her.

Alicia Keys – Lesson Learned Lyrics 16 years ago
This is my favorite song by her. Ever.

I take this to mean that she was in a relationship with a guy that wasn't treating her well at all. Things would be bad between them, but she would keep going back, saying "This is the last time," and yet he knows that she's going to keep going back to him ('you give him one more chance just like the time before but he already know you'd give a hundred more'). Finally, she sees and understands what's going on and how badly this guy is hurting her ('until that night in bed, you wake up in a sweat, you're racing to the door, can't take it anymore').

She goes to see a friend who had warned her perviously about the guy, and how the guy was hurting her and wasn't right for her. And the friend is there for her to calm her down and tell her that it will be alright, trying to help her mend her broken heart. and the chorus is just her saying that she's learned her lesson. She's healing with the help of a person who actually cares for her, and she's never going to fall for that guy again.

I can relate to this song so much, it's insane.

O+S – The Fox Lyrics 16 years ago
i believe the last line is 'because i had thought she was mine.'

this is a great great song.
for me, i think it's referring to someone that you truly love, whether it's romantically or not. sometimes you'll do literally anything possible to make them happy, and they'll appreciate it, but once you've given them everything, they'll move on to the next person.
it's happened to me before and it does hurt, because i honestly believed that the things they said were true; that they would never leave, and that they loved me.

Fall Out Boy – What a Catch, Donnie Lyrics 16 years ago
btw, this was an old entry of pete wentz's back in the beginning of 2008.
references a donnie and flack, so it's most likely about what this song is about.

Fall Out Boy – What a Catch, Donnie Lyrics 16 years ago
now that i've had time to fully assess this song, here's what i think about it.

it's been said in numerous interviews that this song was written from patrick's point of view. i think that this song is about how patrick and pete fight often and are so incredibly different and self concious in their own ways, but at the end of the day, they're both still best friends and nothing will ever change that.

"I got troubled thoughts
And the self-esteem to match
What a catch, what a catch"
seeing this line from patrick's point of view, it can be seen from two different ways:
patrick is saying that he's got horrible self esteem issues and troubled thoughts, and sarcastically saying that he's such a "catch."
it can also be taken that he's saying the first two lines ('i've got troubled thoughts and the self-esteem to match'), and pete wentz is replying with 'what a catch,' as in it doesn't matter, you're still the best person i've ever met.

"You'll never catch us
So just let me be
said i'll be fine
till the hospital or american embassy"
this is in reference to the fights that they've had with each other, in which one of them would walk off in anger or frustration. in particular, i think it's referring to when patrick quit the band for that short period of time. he went off to work on some solo things, and pete went to go persuade him to come back, but patrick was saying "just leave me alone."
the second part is referring to the fact that he was doing okay by himself until he became sick at heart. this could mean that he was homesick, but not for chicago or where he used to live, he was homesick for fall out boy. i imagine that after 8 years of being in the band, he considered them where he felt most at home.

"Miss Flack said I still want you back
Yeah, Miss Flack said I still want you back"
this could be in reference to the song "where is the love" by roberta flack and donnie hathaway, which is about how they each promised their love to each other but one of them eventually fell in love with something else.
using that as a metaphor (or simile, or whatever... i was always bad at those) for pete and patrick, patrick could be the 'miss flack' and pete could be the 'donnie.' patrick and pete were both musical partners for forever, until patrick quit the band and decided to do the solo thing (the other love).
basically, pete's saying "i miss you."

"and all i can think of
is the way i'm the one
who charmed the one
who gave up on you"
in reference to pete's suicide attempt, maybe? pete had let patrick down with that one, and when patrick was contemplating joining the band again, the only thing he could think of was that he and pete were best friends, and pete had given up on him and patrick managed to get him back. and now patrick was the one giving up on pete, and pete's the one trying to get him back.

"They say the captain
Goes down with the ship
So, when the world ends
Will God go down with it?"
this is still somewhat of a mystery to me, but i'm going to assume that, since pete worshipped patrick so much, he told patrick that he's the reason that fall out boy is as famous as they are. it's patrick's music and patrick's voice that got fob to where they are today.
so patrick's thinking, "if this saying is really true, and i'm the reason why fob's famous, if i quit, will the whole band just die?"

and the song lyrics from other songs towards the end of the song are kind of like, pete's way of showing patrick just how awesome he is, because they've had so many hit songs and it's all because of patrick.

Fall Out Boy – Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet Lyrics 17 years ago
i remember reading in an interview with patrick and he said that all of the songs you think about relationships aren't, and all of the ones you think aren't about relationships are.

i think that's the case with this song:
i think it's about how someone who is new to fame and money, is asking a really famous person whether that person's fans knows that he's just doing it for the fame.

and he's saying that he's not going to end up like him, that he's not going to forget that he does this for the music instead of the money.
but then realizes that he probably will, and maybe he's already starting to become like that without even realizing it.

idk, i could be reading too much into it with the whole fame thing, but that's what i thought of the song.

The Spill Canvas – The Tide Lyrics 17 years ago
i think this song is beautiful.

i think it's about 3 children who were taught to not believe in love. Their mother was beaten by their father, and so she told them that the only thing worth living for is sex. yeah yeah, i know, haha. but it makes sense in the line 'it's that moment in life when you actually feel alive' - orgasm?

the three children take that advice in different ways. veronica takes the advice and is waiting for the moment when that would happen. ('as she waits for her real first passionate kiss') Veda wants to believe in love, but she doesn't think it will ever happen to her, because her sister is so much prettier than her. And Dade just wants to understand what made their mom like that.

in the end, they all end up falling in love ('the tide came in and swept her three into the ocean'). and their mother's advice ends up being useless, because now they realize that her advice was wrong. 'it's that moment in life when you touch her and you feel alive' means, all you have to do is touch that special person (the cheek, the hair, etc.) and you feel more alive then you've ever been.

beautiful beautiful song.
i could listen to it for hours on end without ever getting tired of it.

Alexz Johnson – Where does it Hurt Lyrics 17 years ago
one of my favorites from instant star.

basically, something happened to her. she was sad, she was upset, she was lost.
but then the person helped her through it.
(i've been there too, i've wasted myself, and you were there for me).

and now the other person is the one who needs help, and she's saying, you were there for me and i'll be there for you.
and the part where she says 'where does it hurt?' reminds me of a mom who is asking her kid where it hurts so that she'll be able to help the kid.
and i take it as, like, she loves that person so much that she considers him a part of her family, because she cares for him.
so she's asking 'where does it hurt' as an attempt to ease his pain.

brilliant song.
whoever writes the songs for instant star are pretty insane writers, haha.

Alexz Johnson – Over-Rated Lyrics 17 years ago
i think it's about how people think love is just absolutely amazing, where it'll suddenly make everything make sense.
and she's saying, love isn't all it's cracked up to be. it's a rush at first, but then it hurts and you'll just want to stop ('you'll love to love and then you'll hate it'). she says that love is overrated, so don't give into it because it comes and goes ('i've watched it fade, so please don't give in').

Fall Out Boy – Sugar, We're Goin Down Lyrics 17 years ago
whoo, my first ever hardcore long description of a song! [:
anyway, i really do love this song a lot, it always makes me feel like jumping around.

okay, now for the interpretation:

"am i more than you bargained for yet?
i've been dying to tell you anything
you want to hear
cus that's just who i am this week"
to me, this could be taken in two different ways: the first way would be that he's tried everything to get this girl to notice him, telling her everything she wants to hear in hopes that she'll notice him, and he's don'e so much that he's wondering whether or not she's gotten annoyed with him yet. the second way could be that it's after she has already had sex with him, and she's avoiding him, which would make sense with the rest of the song. 'am i more than you bargained for yet' in the way that, she wanted it to just be a one night stand, he wants so much more. and he's trying to get her to be with him as in relationship wise, hence 'i've been dying to tell you anything you want to hear.' the last line, 'cus that's just who i am this week', could be taken in the way that he has conflicting feelings about her. he's hurt and angry at her for ignoring him after they did the deed, but he still wants to be with her because he likes her so much.

"lie in the grass, next to the mausoleum
i'm just a notch in your bedpost, but you're just a line in a song
drop a heart, break a name,
we're always sleeping in and sleeping for the wrong team"
i think the 'lie in the grass...' etc line is a literal meaning, that they really hung out by the mosoleum.
'i'm just a notch in your bedpost' is, obviously, that she only thought of him as another guy to have sex with. 'you're just a line in a song' goes with the conflicting feelings i mentioned before. he meant for it to sound scathing, but if you really think about it, it's something huge that he would even include her in something like a song. because songs are a reflection of what's in the heart, and the fact that she's a line in a song means that she has a place in his heart.

"we're going down, down, in an earlier round
and sugar, we're goin' down swinging
i'll be your number 1 with a bullet
a loaded god complex cock it and pull it
we're goin' down, down, in an earlier round
and sugar, we're goin' down swinging
i'll be your number 1 with a bullet
a loaded god complex cock it and pull it"
i'm actually not too sure what this means. the first two lines makes me think that he's not going to give up on her without a fight, and the second two lines makes me think that he has a 'god complex' which i take to mean that he has a huge ego big enough to make it sound like he thinks he's god, but that if she didn't want something like that, he would gladly give it away.

"is this more than you bargained for yet?
oh, don't mind me i'm watching you two from the closet
wishing to be the friction in your jeans
isn't it messed up how i'm just dying to be him?"
this may be that he's saying that she didn't expect him to be hanging around her still, thinking that he would eventually give up. but he's still around her, and she's already moved on. and he's so jealous of the new guy, wishing that he was in his place, with her. and he still has those feelings for her, but he also realizes that he shouldn't love her so much because of how she treats him.

make sense? i'm really bad at explaining things so i hope you understood [:

this is my favorite on No Really, I'm Fine.
and i also love how Andrew McMahon plays piano in it, considering that man's pretty much my hero.

for some reason, whenever i hear this song, it makes me think back to the song "Self Conclusion."
maybe this song is the girl's version of what happened after he saved her?
she's happy that he's there with her, because he showed her in that night that her life is beautiful, and now she's happy to be alive.

Alexz Johnson – 2 AM Lyrics 17 years ago
this is my favorite song from season 4.

i think that it's about a girl who's been hurt over and over by the same guy ('you kissed me into ruins') and she loves him but she doesn't want to admit it, because then it means she's just gonna get hurt even more. ('if i said i was truly over you, my heart would say amen') the bit about 2 AM in the chorus is like what it says in the show: at 2 am, you think about everything and all of your defenses go down. so when she says she's giving in to 2 AM, it means that she's giving in to her feelings for him.

and this might sound a bit morbid, but i think that the part where it goes 'now i've got all of your love letters written on my skin' - i think that it's like, whenever he hurt her, she cut herself. and those cuts reminded her of everything that he did to her.

Fall Out Boy – I've Got a Dark Alley and a Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth (Summer Song) Lyrics 17 years ago
this song is DEFINITELY about his (pete's) overdose. he has said it in interviews, and it's also the reason why the band will never play the song live. pete said that he might breakdown if they ever play it.

here's a little bit of backround information for you guys:
sometime around early 2005, pete fell into a deep depression. it hadn't gotten better. in May or June of 2005, he drove to a best buy parking lot and overdosed on pills (i think it was Ativan, but i'm not entirely sure). while he was sitting there, he was listening to Jeff Buckley's cover of the song "Hallelujah". he called his manager or something like that and said that fall out boy couldn't do the Europe tour. halfway through the conversation his speech became extremely slurred because of the pills, and so he either passed out while on the phone or he hung up. when he passed out, he was clutching a copy of Take This To Your Grave.
manager guy freaked out, called pete's mom, and she either drove/ran to the best buy. they had to pump pete's stomach, and he was replaced for the european tour.

pretty much, that whole story fits in with the song.

Fall Out Boy – G.I.N.A.S.F.S. Lyrics 18 years ago
i think this song is about how he (the guy) knew that their relationship was starting to fall apart, and so he broke up with her before they both started to hate each other. but then he realized that he still loved her and he misses her.

when you think about it, it kind of goes together-
"the prince of any failing empire" is like, you know that your empire is going to collapse. which goes with "Threw caution to the wind But I've got a lousy arm".
it means that he tried to throw caution to the wind by ending the relationship, but it didn't work because he still loves/misses her.
and he can't get rid of her, because she was there to save his life. kind of like he was fucked up but when she came into his life, everything became better.

and the 'trade baby blues for wide eyed browns' part-
i think it means that he was starting to become close to a person with baby blue eyes (ashlee simpson?), but he still missed the person with brown eyes (jeanae?), and that he would trade ashlee simpson for jeanae any day.

:| that's what i think about this song.
