Clay Aiken – The Real Me Lyrics 15 years ago
I've loved this song for a really long time now, and it only just dawned on me that this song is likely unromantic. I mean, it still could be, but to me it sounds more like something directed towards a child. Whoever it's about is someone extremely forgiving, open and blindly accepting. Also, this part (which is missing from the lyrics above)

Shadows of shattered dreams
They follow me
They've haunted me
But you've taken the broken pieces of my life
and helped me to believe.

It seems like a calling to the future and maybe a general lack of care for anything that happened in the past--which is every characteristic of a child. It could be more introspective, too, and in Clay's case, perhaps the child that wasn't born yet.

Kris Allen – Before We Come Undone Lyrics 16 years ago
This is probably my favorite on the album (for now, that always changes).

It sounds like there's been some sort of an argument, and although both people have probably messed up in the relationship, he's willing to give it up and surrender in order to save it. I think they've both been really stubborn about it and he finally just gives in for the greater good.

Adam Lambert – Pick U Up Lyrics 16 years ago
Probably the best song on the album. It really shows off his vocals and has a great, unique pop sound.

I think it's just about throwing out an older life and going off to do what you want and become the person you want to be despite the people in your past--and taking someone along for the ride.

Kris Allen – Live Like We're Dying Lyrics 16 years ago
I think Kris's version of this song is great. It's really similar to The Script's version but I think considering how quickly his album is being put together and how obscure the song is it's forgivable.

The meaning of the song is pretty straightforward and fits with Kris perfectly as far as what he believes in religiously, his career, and his attitude towards life in general--I think this'll be a great kickoff for him and hopefully a hit.

Mika – Touches You Lyrics 16 years ago
I love this song. It is a little creepy but that just makes it better.

I think it's about somebody who's very withdrawn and introverted, who won't open up to anybody. I think the song's point of view is from somebody who wants to get close to them in whatever way they can--to get the person out of their shell.

Or it's just about a creeper. Haha.

Kaiser Chiefs – You Want History Lyrics 17 years ago
No comments yet? Crazy! This is probably my favorite song on the whole album.

I think it might be about a guy who spent his whole life living well, taking care of all the things people need to do, like doing well in school and saving money and all that, but then one day he wakes up and finds that his life is too stable, normal and boring. So he suddenly becomes a party animal and maybe a drunk.

The second half of the song may be his old self kind of butting in on his current life. He knows it's all a waste of money and time, but it's too fun and exciting for him to pass up.

Whether he's living a totally boring or crazy life, there's no "history" because:

a. He never did anything exciting.

or

b. He has no idea what he did the night before!

Danny Elfman – What's This? Lyrics 17 years ago
My god, I crack up so hard when he sings, "And who would ever think... AND WHY?" because he just sounds so offended.

This is a fantastic song.

Keane – Spiralling Lyrics 17 years ago
This song didn't hook me the first time I heard it, but now it's completely sucked me in. It's different, but that isn't bad at all.

I think it's about building up your life around dreams and things you'd like to be, but then realizing that with all the time spent dreaming, you have nothing to fall back on.

Backstreet Boys – Larger Than Life Lyrics 17 years ago
Haha, people are nuts. This is a catchy, cool song. The lyrics aren't profound or anything, but why would a up-beat pop song need to be? Everyone likes this song and they know it.

I love the original, but this is an awesome cover. There's no denying it.

The New Pornographers – Letter from an Occupant Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's about someone breaking it off with someone else because of some religious argument, and from the POV of the side being broken up, they equate the argument to more trivial things, which kind of explains why party #1 broke up with them int he first place.

I dunno, it makes sense in my mind.

The New Pornographers – Adventures in Solitude Lyrics 18 years ago
I took it as being completely within the realm of solitude. The "we" referring to the aspect of someone's self presented to the world, and the "you" being their true self that's constantly changing and in question. Like when faced with a difficult problem or sadness, someone might retreat to a deeper, darker part of themselves, and the adventure is coming out of that.

But I'm probably over-thinking.
