It sounds to me like it's about a shitty breakup where the girl in the situation has already found a new lover and is saying to him that he'll be okay...he'll find someone too...but he doesn't want to hear that crap from her, he doesn't want her pity. By building her dreams on his shattered hopes, she left him for this new guy of her's...and "looking back on a day once loved"...he wishes that all the good times he had with her never happened...that they had broken up sooner. I feel that way mostly because, well, same thing happened to me. My ex and I broke up in the worst way possible...I was left for someone else...now I wish I could go back and erase all of our amazing times and make it so that it was terrible from the get go. |

It sounds more to me like he's in love with a girl who's cheating on her boyfriend with him. She claims to love him more than her boyfriend, "you said that you're leavin', that you don't need him" , but she's "uneasy and it's not gonna change"-- she won't leave her boyfriend for him.
