A while back I actually sent a message to tcc asking them what this song was about and they messaged me back with something along the lines of I don't like to stamp meanings on songs but it's basically about "losing someone, and driving" Based off of that I think it's about someone who has lost a loved one and driving is not only the action he is doing but it also has symbols for what is happening to him physically. Wiper blades wiping away tears, he'll be sad for a while so don't bother drying the tears, also about facing the headlights alone, they are like challenges on the road of life. The narrator wants the person to come back and face the problem with them |

| I think that thepianominstrel hit the mark on this one. The song is about people (mainly Christians) following the status quo of the mainstream world when they should be influencing others on a better lifestyle. Instead of doing this however we have the "blind leading the blind" It also talks about how as Christians we shouldn't be hanging around and being influenced by the evils in the world instead of living in God. "you won't see hunter and prey polluting the same space." That's just me though, I could be wrong on some stuff. | |

Ok here is what I've concluded about the entire song based on the other comments and what I personally think. "It's a deep, red wound, enough to stare It's a beautiful rose and everyone's aware" Ok obviously it introduces the story about a girl who is dead and the beatuiful rose might be a bullet whole. "You squeeze it tight enough to bleed But suicide is something we'd rather not mention here In our beautiful world of saving face" I have no clue about the squeezing tight. Maybe hugging the dead body or something. People don't want to mention the suicide because it messes up there "beautiful" world and they want to preserve there own reputations maybe. "So Vanity's got this new gun that she wants to try on you And as we stand here waiting for the sound..." This might mean that vanity is something that can really harm you but i'm not sure why it refers to vanity as "she" instead of "it" The last line of the chorus is an unfinished sentance, this might be as if to ask, what will we do while were "waiting for the sound"? "Get me out of this hell before I'm sucked in" the speaker wants to get out before he starts acting like the people he's talking about in the story. "But you're the beautiful one And everyone is painted on singing scripted songs" The dead girl is beautiful and unique, and everyone else is just vain and conforms to the world. Everyone is basically the same but she was special "And your seizure-like finger is dead on the trigger And then, it's all blown away" she pulls the trigger and blows away all of her problems and the criticism. "With you or us all" I'm not sure, but this might mean that she has rid herself of this problems but will it also teach us a lesson and blow it all away with us too. "And they had you in their targets They're smiling with you in their targets" people were targeting her with there cruelty. This is good word choice because it sounds like "they" were aiming a gun at her themselves. "So Vanity's got this new gun that she wants to try on you And as we stand here waiting for the sound So Vanity's got this new gun that she wants to try on you And no one says a word from there on out" No one talks about it after it happens "Oh I knew she was beautiful, you're the ones with the flaws" She was beautiful, and the people that said she had flaws were the ones that had the flaws. "Oh I knew she was beautiful, she should have had this all" Not sure, maybe she deserved better than what she got. You're killing your heroes, you're killing them one by one But I knew she was beautiful, something here's got to die" People are killing the people who are truly good and special and it's got to stop. Whew well that's all, nobody has posted here for a while so I hope this helps someone. Any additions are welcome. |
